[Kochiya Sanae Cosplay] Norito Echoes in Mountain of Faith: Divine Favor as the Wind Rises

This photoshoot of Touhou Project's Mountain of Faith Sanae look focused on conveying both her liveliness and solemnity within a shrine environment. The blue-and-white starry sky skirt alongside the intricate lace sleeves took considerable time to put on, yet they truly anchored the character's presence. Both the frog hair ornament and the gohei wand prop had substantial volume, requiring repeated adjustments to my grip and angles to avoid obstructing my face or disrupting the overall silhouette.

The outdoor sunlight was intense on the day of the shoot, casting dappled tree shadows across the wooden gates and fences of the Japanese garden, which provided the photographer with wonderful lighting conditions. To showcase the layered structure of the costume, I experimented with various poses. In particular, for the shots sitting on the stone steps, I deliberately slowed down my movements to let the natural light trace the contours of the White tights cosplay and my legs, keeping my posture elongated for an elegant, natural look. Styling the wig also took ample time; to ensure the yellowish-green long locks reflected sunlight beautifully alongside the blunt bangs and center-parted strands, I spent a while fine-tuning the hairline position.

During outdoor shoots, stamina and patience are put to the ultimate test. Because the skirt is voluminous with multiple petticoat linings, movement was somewhat restricted, and the long streamers on the prop easily snagged on things, demanding careful turns near fences and wooden gates. I usually make sure to review the shot list with the photographer beforehand so that during the actual shoot, I can concentrate entirely on facial expressions and eye contact. Although wearing the full ensemble was physically demanding, conveying the character's traditional Japanese aesthetic—casual yet touched with a divine aura—within such an antique setting felt truly wondrous. This stood as another great exercise for my modeling performance, and I hope it leaves a vivid visual impression for fellow fans of this Anime cosplay character.
