Shooting this Chen costume in a snowy landscape focused on capturing the agile, playful vibe of a catgirl. The orange-red dress layered with abundant white lace ruffles stood out sharply against the cool-toned winter scenery. The beast-ear headpiece and long tail prop served as iconic character staples, which, paired with the black-and-white folding fan prop, delivered exceptional cosplay completeness.
During prep, securing the headpiece was tricky; because of expansive dynamic movements, extra bobby pins and clips were needed to anchor it firmly against jumping motions. The layered red chest charms also required careful untangling. For pose design, I deliberately chose a dynamic back-kick stance on one foot atop the stone steps. This posture elongated body lines while allowing the skirt to flare naturally, conveying catgirl agility. The photographer used a low-angle upward perspective to eliminate messy ground elements while enhancing vertical leg extension. Detached sleeves added dynamic motion on camera, while anchoring my supporting foot firmly on the stone kept balance as I leaned slightly forward.
The location featured a traditional garden landscape with stone steps, bridges, and ponds. While there was no actual snowfall on set, adding snowflake VFX in post-processing enriched depth to fit the winter theme, crafting a striking warm-and-cool contrast between the orange-red dress and the icy backdrop. Handling outdoor winter temperatures with minimal thermal layers tested endurance, while the structured petticoat kept the lace ruffles flared in the wind.
Post-processing balanced a fairy-tale dreaminess by deepening backgrounds and blending realistic snowflake layers. Calibrating hand gestures, prop angles, and playful squinting smiles brought static frames into dynamic catgirl life, making this outdoor photography experience immensely enriching.
