Matching the industrial aesthetic of the booth, I brought this Asuma Toki cosplay Maid outfit cosplay set to the China International Comics Festival (CICF).

I actually started refining the outfit details a week before the convention. The blue contact lenses are a personal favorite of mine; paired with the short blonde bangs, that cool yet focused gaze came through instantly. The black tactical harness straps and the sapphire-like bow tie are the core highlights of this ensemble. In terms of tailoring, black and white contrast never fails, while the vivid blue of the bow tie is the crowning touch, providing an eye-catching splash of vibrant color against the muted industrial-style booth.

The skirt is a classic black mini skirt layered with a ruffled white apron whose hem sits right at the upper thighs. Paired with a White tights cosplay look and white chunky-heeled pumps, the leg lines and texture sheen reflected gorgeously under the booth's fill lights. A special shoutout to these heels—although they look quite high, walking in them was surprisingly stable, so spending more than half a day at the booth didn't make my feet ache at all.

The white tactical rifle prop in my hand proved to be indispensable during the shoot. From its blue decals to its overall mechanical finish, the weight distribution was balanced just right, making it effortless to wield with one hand or lay flat beside me on the carpet. The ingenious fusion of mechanical gear and a delicate Maid outfit cosplay fits Asuma Toki's character traits to a tee—an adorable, soft exterior masking formidable combat prowess. Guided by the photographer, we experimented with several distinct poses.

For example, a slightly languid seiza-style pose kneeling on the carpet, a focused combat-ready stance holding the rifle with both hands, and a sleek side-lying pose holding the gun in one hand. I personally highly recommend the side-lying shot; it elongates the visual proportions of the body beautifully, and the white tights create a wonderful harmony bridging the soft carpet and the rigid weaponry.

The convention hall was actually much livelier than anticipated. The surrounding set—composed of chains and wire mesh, illuminated by warm yellow lighting—evoked an eclectic mix of cyberpunk and wasteland aesthetics. Toki's character inherently possesses a high-tech 'kuudere' (emotionless) quality; creating visual clashes in such a contrasting environment lent an even stronger narrative feel to the photos. The yellow caution tape and retro CRT television in the background were also clever set elements that rendered the industrial wasteland atmosphere spot-on.

As I shifted between poses, strands of hair and even the small parts on the prop would sway, yielding that candid snapshot feel which is often the most natural. The photographer was extremely efficient with a very comfortable shooting rhythm, switching poses every few minutes so the whole process never felt exhausting.

The entire shoot lasted about two hours. With plenty of passersby walking around the booth, people occasionally paused to take photos or discuss the costume and props. Being able to bring a 2D virtual character to life in a real-world setting through 3D costumes and props, and capturing satisfying imagery in the process, is probably the greatest joy I find in cosplay every time.

This trip to the China International Comics Festival (CICF) was immensely rewarding for me. Not only did I successfully capture this Asuma Toki Maid outfit cosplay set, but I also immersed myself in the unique atmosphere of the venue setup. Being able to express my interpretation of the character through this styling is deeply meaningful in itself, and I hope to unlock even more fun and exciting looks at future offline events.
