Today at the Shanghai Blue Archive Only event, I finally brought Saiba Midori's maid outfit to life! This ensemble has an incredible amount of detail: the navy-blue long-sleeved dress paired with a white ruffled pleated apron has a wonderful tactile drape, creating an elegant swing to the hem as I walked around the venue. The pale blue bowtie on the chest is the crowning touch, faithfully recreating that gentle, well-mannered vibe from the game. For this look, I specially prepared white tights (White stockings) and black-and-white chunky-heeled booties. Once worn, the maid aesthetic was completely elevated, and whether wandering the hall or posing for shots, the visual pairing of White stockings with black shoes was strikingly eye-catching.
The yellow-green halo atop my head and the cat-ear headband are without question the soul of the character. To anchor that floating halo securely, I spent ages tinkering with it before heading out to ensure it wouldn't slip from any camera angle. The black cat tail with fluorescent green stripes was carefully pinned behind my skirt so its shape peeked out just right during side angles and over-the-shoulder glances. The most fun prop was definitely the long-handled feather duster—the silver metallic handle felt weighty in hand, and the fluffy greyish-black down gave it a remarkably authentic feel. When posing with it, I tried to immerse myself in Midori's persona: dressed as a maid yet still holding that distinctive Game Development Department dedication, maintaining a focused, calm gaze while occasionally pretending to dust or gently resting the duster on the floor to bring out that delightful gap-moe contrast.
We chose the grey-tiled exterior area outside the venue as our backdrop, featuring glass doors and modern architectural lines. The side lighting illuminated the subject beautifully, lending a crisp, translucent finish. The photographer excelled at capturing candid moments, and we tested several angles by the glass doors and walkways: a front-facing pose holding the duster handle with both hands felt very prim and proper; for the over-the-shoulder look, I deliberately straightened my legs to accentuate the tiered lines of the White stockings and skirt hem; and there was a shot sitting directly on the grey ground with legs naturally extended to one side and the duster resting beside me, giving off a relaxed, slice-of-life charm I adore. A few other frames with hands lightly touching the cat-ear headband added a playful touch. In a crowded, chaotic convention setting, capturing such clean, atmospherically spot-on photos comes down to the photographer's precise framing and light mastery. Although constantly managing garment wrinkles, halo angles, and facial expressions was exhausting, seeing the final photos made every bit of effort worthwhile. I hope this set conveys the unique cuteness of Maid Midori to everyone!
