[Fu Xuan Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Mid-Autumn Limited Chang'e Hair Style Shoot

I arranged this outdoor shoot during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, centering around the Moonchase Festival vibe, which fits perfectly with the idea of a Mid-Autumn limited cosplay.

First, regarding the makeup and wig. To match the character's setting, I chose a light pinkish-purple wig with a very fine texture, styled with bangs and layers. The headpiece is a core element of this look; the metallic-textured crown design is extremely intricate, requiring patient assembly of all parts and pearl beads into place. The purple tassels hanging from both sides add a lovely sense of lightness as I move around.

As for the costume, this doll-style off-shoulder design required extra effort to fit properly. The fabric incorporates color-blocking in dark blue, light purple, and pure white. The golden patterns on the chest and waist feature soft sequins and embroidery, radiating a delicate luster. The ruffled arm sleeves, along with white tights and a pair of boots decorated with gold patterns, visually elongate the body proportions. This kind of off-shoulder cut really tests the fit around the underarm area, but thankfully, the tailor fitted it seamlessly this time.

For the shoot, we arranged three completely different locations corresponding to four photos with distinct moods. The first night scene is a style I absolutely love: using cherry blossom branches at night as a foreground, paired with the glowing pink orb in my hands. The ambient lighting required the photographer to rely almost entirely on the glowing orb as the main light source, supplemented by a bit of background ambient light. Because the surroundings were very dark, focusing was quite tricky, but after several attempts, we finally captured that sense of magic and mystery.

The third photo was taken under the corridor of an ancient building, where I stood on a stone lotus pedestal. We experimented with several angles for this pose, as standing on one leg on an uneven stone to stay steady was quite challenging. Slightly bending forward, resting my cheek on one hand, and holding a pink round fan creates a playful yet subtly coy feel. The white stockings and short boots showcase my leg lines nicely in this stance; to achieve a slender effect, the photographer intentionally kept the lens lower during composition.

The fourth photo was taken next to a bamboo forest, where the twilight light was extremely soft. The side-standing pose, aided by the gentle breeze, naturally lifted the skirt and hair strands. That serene and effortless ambiance felt exceptionally fitting for ancient style cosplay photography in a Chinese garden. The round fan wasn't just a prop—in a side-profile composition, it filled the gap in hand gestures nicely, preventing the posture from looking stiff.

In fact, whenever shooting a character with an ethereal, ancient-style concept, the biggest challenge isn't appearance, but rather making poses that blend harmoniously with the environment. Dealing with wind and falling leaves outdoors, keeping ribbons untangled, and managing expressions all require quick adaptability on set. This Mid-Autumn feature happens to incorporate the nimble essence of Chang'e, creating a subtle connection between the character's design and this traditional festival.

Although I was covered in dust after finishing the outdoor shoot and bugs were flying around in the grass, seeing the final photos made every bit worth it. Finally, I'd like to say that this multi-element costume design requires the photographer to have precise color control in actual shoots. Balancing large areas of cool tones with a warm light orb, along with changing natural outdoor light, really tests the photographer's skill during pre-production shooting.
