This Halford cosplay from Azur Lane had actually been in preparation for quite some time. When I first saw the original design, I thought that as an Azur Lane character, walking around a convention in her full default costume would be quite cumbersome—not only restricting movement, but the materials could easily appear heavy. So after discussing with my cosplay partner, we decided to transform it into a refreshing lingerie-style redesign. This maintained the character's high recognizability while making the overall look lighter, more dynamic, and much easier to walk around in and pose at the convention.

In terms of styling design, we retained the core elements from the original design: the pure white long hair and the fluffy ruffled headpiece. The pink pompoms and black bow accents on the hair accessories preserved the character's sweetness. The top was replaced with a custom light-pink velvet bodysuit, a fabric that catches the light with delicate sheen; paired with a low-cut neckline and a black ribbon choker, it elongated the neck contour while adding a subtle touch of allure. The sleeves were designed as exaggerated white bell sleeves, edged with layered ruffles and tiny pink bows, making them visually striking and lending an airy flow to arm movements. For the lower half, pure white stockings in a White stockings cosplay style were chosen, accented with pink bows at the upper thighs. Leveraging the high-cut bodysuit design, the leg lines were fully accentuated, which was a major highlight of this redesign.

The shooting took place in a corner of the convention venue. The environment was actually quite cluttered with light stands and barricades everywhere, but photographer @Mao Refused You was skilled at utilizing high-key backlighting to manage the scene. The hazy, softly exposed feel in the photos perfectly captured the sacred halo and languid elegance we wanted for this vampire prince concept. Since the theme was a vampire prince, I maintained a cool, composed expression during the shoot; even while holding the large grey rabbit plush, it didn't look overly childish, but rather conveyed a poised, commanding calm.

For cosplay of a warship-personification game, capturing clean and textured Anime-style photography in a crowded convention is a true test of the photographer's pacing—not only avoiding messy crowds and backgrounds, but also swiftly capturing the expressions that best fit the character lore in fleeting intervals. While this white-toned outfit looks ethereal, it demands precise lighting, as a slight misstep can cause overexposure or a loss of textural depth. Fortunately, the resulting Convention photos turned out ideal: the muted saturation of the pink-and-white palette combined with soft lighting matched our desired dreamy, light, and subtly sensual expression. I look forward to exploring more redesigned looks with design flair and breathability in the future, experiencing different facets of character charm on site.
