Putting on this outfit for Laffey cosplay and standing in front of the wooden classroom desk, I truly experienced that subtle, sleepy vibe characteristic of this character.
The wig features light pale-purple twintails paired with her iconic red headband and golden cross-star hairpins on both sides. Coupled with those giant plush bunny ears, no matter how I adjusted my sitting position, they swayed gently with my movements, perfectly fitting that sleepy, carefree setting. For makeup, light pink color contacts were chosen, with matching pinkish blushes added around the eyes to make the gaze appear softer and dreamier, completely different from my usual daily state.
Outfit-wise, my favorite piece is this blue-and-white halter top worn underneath a pink-and-white jacket with oversized fluffy cuffs—just looking at the styling feels immensely soft, fluffy, and approachable. The red-and-white pleated miniskirt on the lower half paired with white pantyhose, plus those red-and-white color-blocked platform boots with silver armor texture, create a strong visual contrast that blends teenage sweetness with a touch of mechanical toughness from her rigging.
The venue for this shoot was a specially set-up classroom studio. The green chalkboard, wooden desks, globe by the wall, and wooden easel all brought a realistic life texture. Photographer @Pulao411 is excellent at catching casual expressions; many photos were captured in moments between chats—poses weren't deliberately held, just casually leaning on desk edges or cupping my chin lost in thought, yet the resulting effect unexpectedly fit the character's signature drowsy charm.
The Three elements of portrait photography truly ran through the entire shooting process: light hitting the texture of the wig and plush decorations, alongside composition framing choices, significantly elevated the final mood. Shooting such high-fidelity photosets usually takes a lot of time—styling hair, makeup, and arranging clothing takes hours—but the moment seeing the captured images on screen makes all tediousness and fatigue dissolve away.
Honestly, sitting on a wooden desk isn't particularly comfortable, especially when posing relaxed for the camera; sometimes when my legs went numb, I had to quietly stretch them out. But those little struggles are softened by the lens, leaving viewers with only that character-specific relaxed ease. In the classroom backdrop, open desk calendars and a small alarm clock were intentionally placed, ensuring the images were more than simple character shots, feeling like stepping directly into a specific daily scene in Azur Lane.
While tidying up my outfit after shooting, sunlight happened to fall across the chalkboard and the globe in the corner. Looking at the scene before me, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this frozen moment of quiet serenity.
