This time, I tried my hand at Kawaragi Momoka cosplay from GIRLS BAND CRY, also widely known as mmk. To capture her indie rock musician aura, I specifically chose this stylish, loose black printed T-shirt for the outfit, pairing it with a classic dark plaid pleated mini skirt and black over-the-knee socks. The silver-white short wig with straight bangs is the core of the styling; I intentionally thinned it out and flipped the ends slightly, striving to recreate her seemingly casual yet highly recognizable hairstyle. The black studded collar around my neck and the red wide studded bracelet on my wrist are also crucial personality elements from her character design.
This set of Cosplay photos all adopt a Night portrait style, taken entirely in a night environment. The neon signs and streetlights blending in the background created beautiful bokeh under the lens's wide aperture. Immersed in this urban night atmosphere, I tried to step into mmk's daily state. Whether leaning against a lamppost alone watching the traffic, simply sitting by the roadside spacing out with a can, or standing on the street with that black guitar case, I hoped to showcase her seemingly casual yet deeply earnest side in her band life through different postures and expressions.
For expression management, I deliberately avoided acting overly cute or forcing poses, wanting instead to present that 'unapologetic, go-with-the-flow' coolness and tomboyish vibe. The eye makeup focused on defining deep eyeliner, paired with a natural nude lip color, making my gaze look more piercing. The photographer was excellent at candid shots; we basically had very few forced poses throughout the shoot, instead relying on walking casually through the streets to capture the most natural moments.
I have to say, doing cosplay in a setting like a night street, full of movement and life, is much more vivid than shooting in a solid-color studio. The can in my hand, the cool breeze, the traffic behind me, and the light and shadow of passing cars all became vital parts of these frames. Blending an anime character with Anime-style fashion into the streets of a real city was the greatest joy this shoot gave me, and I hope to show everyone the Kawaragi Momoka of my heart through the lens.
