[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Little Cyrene's Playful Casual Snaps

When I saw the character Cyrene in Honkai: Star Rail, I was immediately drawn to her setting that combines both agility and an ethereal aura. For this Roleplay performance, I specially chose the perspective of little Cyrene to present it, focusing on a casual yet exquisite everyday atmosphere. The choice of clothing was the first hurdle; the outer deep blue jacket has a very loose fit, but it doesn't completely cling to the body, instead holding up an excellent shoulder silhouette. Combined with the slightly large cuffs, it elevates the character's smallness and playfulness just right. The white skirt inner layer gives off a faint sheen under the top light, and its inherent shifting subtle patterns add great layers in the lens. The gold thick buckle at the waist is the core of the entire visual; it not only pulls the waistline extremely high but also neutralizes the steadiness of the jacket's color, making the overall Anime-style fashion outfit crisp and lively.

The purple border on the inner side of the cuffs and the details like charms and ribbons on the sleeves were my favorite parts to ponder over while wearing it. Since large areas of dark colors can easily look dull, these embellishments served as the crowning touch. The white, slightly curved wing-like hair accessory on top of the head actually took some effort to secure. Too many hairpins would look messy, yet it had to stay on in various poses without falling off. To make it stand at the proper angle during selfies, I adjusted it back and forth for a long time.

What tested my patience the most was actually the lace-up sandals on my feet. This kind of Roman-style cross lace-up shoe not only needs to be worn securely, but the number of wraps on both legs also needs to be symmetrical. During selfies, if I tilted my head to look in the mirror, I would often find halfway through shooting that the calf strap had slid down. But once worn properly, the lightness it brings visually and the effect of shaping the legs are exceptionally good. The action of lifting one leg and crossing it in the second photo actually focuses on showcasing the pairing of this shoe with the leg lines.

Regarding that accompanying white and purple long-tail prop, although it only shows a partial silhouette in the two photos taken, the sense of balance it provides during actual shooting is very important. The material of this prop is very special; it is neither a particularly rigid hard shell nor too soft and saggy, draping naturally and forming curves when posing. Especially in the first photo, where I make a V-sign with one hand, this pose combined with the extension of the prop's tail pulls the overall silhouette into a triangle, preventing the frame from looking so rigid.

The shooting environment was the living room at home. The reflection of the tiled floor and the spotlights overhead actually added quite a bit of difficulty to the mirror selfies. To prevent the intense light from eating away the clothing's highlights and to avoid shadows falling on the face or skirt, I changed angles several times, repeatedly adjusting the phone's position and tilt angle. Because it was a phone selfie, the frame capacity was limited, so I had to encapsulate the half-body silhouette, clothing details, and actions/expressions all within the limited space. In the first photo, a slight tilt of the body combined with the V-sign gesture perfectly explains the flowing hem of the jacket, the length of the white skirt, and the full view of the shoes. The moment of lifting the leg in the second photo, though stronger in dynamic feel, has a more full and regular composition in the first photo from the perspective of displaying the overall tailoring of the costume.

What this shoot wanted was not a grand epic feel, but rather little Cyrene's relaxed, lively spirit that captures people's attention without having to deliberately strike a pose. Without using complex lighting equipment, relying completely on the daily light sources at home actually felt warmer and more approachable. A large area of blue and white, plus the pink short hair, and adorned with gold hardware, is visually refreshing and clean. I believe that playing a character is not just about putting on her clothes, but more about simulating her attitude of facing life with a bit of a desire to explore. Finding angles by myself in front of the mirror instead captures many relaxed states that cannot be felt behind a camera. Presenting this piece of my Casual cosplay routine simply and purely like this is the most authentic feeling I want to share.
