[Hu Tao cosplay] NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Hu Tao 'Sakura Cloud Fairy' Spring Photoshoot at Qinglong Lake

This time at Qinglong Lake, I photographed Hu Tao's 'Sakura Cloud Fairy' outfit. Outdoor location shoots come with many uncontrollable variables, and strong wind in particular significantly affects the outfit. I wore this white-and-pink tulle dress featuring an extremely sheer and lightweight outer fabric that easily billowed in the breeze; to capture the natural fluttering motion of the skirt, we ran back and forth multiple times.

The prop was a wooden-handled oiled paper umbrella with pearl strings hanging from the rim. Because the umbrella ribs were quite heavy, holding it continuously made my arms ache, but to match the Cherry blossom and the overall atmospheric visual, I kept up the umbrella-holding pose throughout. The makeup artist used pink-toned eyeshadow paired with a light blonde wig and pink animal ears, while red cord tassels on both sides added dynamic movement. The gold pendant on my forehead reflected light under side-lighting, so the photographer constantly adjusted camera angles to capture every detail clearly.

Shooting demanded intense focus. For example, during the pose where I closed my eyes to smell the flowers, I had to keep my facial expression relaxed without closing my eyes too tightly, which would otherwise disrupt the eyelashes. In the upward angle looking up beneath the tree, I had to coordinate the tilt of my head to ensure the light fell perfectly across my cheeks, which was somewhat tiring on the neck. The gold floral ornament at the waist was heavy and tended to slide down if the sash loosened, so I checked its fastening before switching poses.

This outdoor shoot made me realize that location photography isn't just about finding flattering angles, but also about controlling body tension and weight. The Cherry blossom at Qinglong Lake matched this costume wonderfully; sunlight filtering through the petals brought out the rich layering of the fabric. Overall, the shoot went very smoothly. Although tiring, seeing the overall light and shadow effects in the final images made all the hard work worthwhile. It serves as a complete photo record of this NARAKA: BLADEPOINT character outfit, capturing that spirited, ethereal charm in both wide and close-up shots.
