From preparation to the final shoot, this Genshin Impact Skirk cosplay indeed took a lot of effort, but seeing the final photos made it completely satisfying.
A large part of this look's visual focus lies in the fabric textures and accessories. The top features a lot of asymmetrical tailoring. Based on the main colors of pure white and ice blue, it incorporates rigid black straps and a highly metallic collar decoration. This unconventional, heavy-crafted design not only highlights the character's cold setting but also makes the overall layering incredibly rich. The high-slit skirt of the lower half is paired with thigh-high stockings that have a semi-sheer gradient texture. The cut-out design on the thighs adds a touch of sharp beauty to the cool aesthetic, making this unique anime-style fashion look extremely photogenic as the stockings gleamed with a subtle luster under the studio lights.
In terms of accessories and props, the weapon is the absolute highlight of the entire look. Although it is made of rigid materials based on the official settings, the solid weight and ice-cold feel in my hand instantly immersed me into the character's battle state. During the shoot, whether carrying the greatsword on one shoulder or crossing my hands for a defense pose, it required a certain amount of arm strength to support. It is truly a \"heavy-duty\" weapon, making me love and hate posing with it.
Many friends asked how the star-shattered spatial feel in the background was created. Actually, the blue and purple reflective fragments floating behind me are entirely handcrafted cellophane props made by myself to achieve scene special effects. To get this irregular crystal shattering effect, I spent two whole days at home cutting and folding repeatedly, and finally suspended them on a black backdrop using fine threads and stands. When the studio's main and side lights were turned on, the light refracted off the cellophane surface to create brilliant, cool-toned highlights. That deep sense of space and starry fragmentation emerged instantly, capturing a texture akin to post-production special effects right on set without using any compositing. This joy of practical set building is truly something post-processing cannot provide.
During the shooting process, the photographer's control over light and shadow in the cosplay photography was also highly professional. Instead of using large areas of illumination, local cool-toned lights were used to highlight the facial contours and the edges of the weapon, creating an extremely strong contrast between light and dark. In front of the camera, I used different gaze and body language—such as tilting my chin up slightly in close-up shots, or exuding a sharp aura with a raised leg in full-body poses—to match the character's proud, calm, and slightly dangerous oppressive presence.
Although an entire afternoon of shooting with this heavy gear and weapon left my shoulders and arms incredibly sore, seeing that cold, sharp combat aesthetic in the viewfinder made all the exhaustion instantly worth it. From the detailed buttons on the costume to the arrangement of the cellophane fragments, and the positioning and makeup touch-ups for every shot, I hoped to make every detail perfect. This is also my respect as a coser for the character and for everyone. I hope this set of photos allows everyone to feel the unique charm of this character while also passing on the joy of handcrafted practical sets.
