The official photoset of Odette is finally out. To be honest, the whole process had twists and turns, and seeing the final pictures now makes me feel both bittersweet and relieved. Many of the props on the clothes were actually broken, and the wig didn't match the description either; the color and styling were vastly different from what I expected. I was pretty devastated when I first got my hands on them, but since the schedule was already set, I had to bite the bullet and go through with it. I was extremely anxious during the shoot, constantly making temporary fixes with safety pins and tape. What made it even worse was that while packing up after the shoot, I discovered that a piece of decoration on the back had fallen off at some point—I almost cried right then and there. Since I was cosplaying a character from Genshin Impact that I love so much, yet constantly messing up due to equipment issues, that sense of powerlessness was really strong.
For this shoot, I actually made a lot of preparations and pre-conceived many poses, but once I arrived at the scene and faced this outfit full of flaws, all my plans were completely disrupted. The shooting location was set up with great care—white sheer fabric curtains, a large number of white and blue flowers, plus cross and birdcage props, creating a very dreamy overall atmosphere. Yet, on my end, things were going wrong left and right. However, the photographer was truly professional, constantly guiding me to adjust angles and try to avoid those damaged parts.
Judging from the final photos, the results are much better than I expected. In the photos, I'm wearing a blue-and-white color-blocked dress, with the pink gem at the waist as a highlight, while the white stockings and golden sandals on the lower body restore the character's temperament as much as possible. Whether sitting on a chair with legs stretched out or standing up and raising a hand to showcase the tailoring of the costume, I tried my best to exhibit Odette's elegant yet slightly dreamy vibe. Although there were plenty of issues with the clothes and the wig, I tried to maintain a good state in front of the lens, pushing myself to get into Odette's mindset from Genshin Impact. Especially the photo of me sitting on the white chair is one I really like myself; it happens to showcase the texture of the white stockings while masking the flaws on the back.
Actually, having things go wrong is a common occurrence after playing cosplay for so many years. Sometimes you prepare for a character with high expectations, only to leave regrets due to various force majeures, which inevitably feels disappointing. The prop and wig issues this time did frustrate me somewhat, but it also made me realize that I need to be much more careful in costume preparation and inspection. Odette from Genshin Impact is a character I've always wanted to cosplay; although this attempt has flaws, I've accumulated plenty of practical experience. Next time I cosplay this character, or try other Genshin Impact characters, I will definitely be stricter in selecting costumes and wigs to present a more perfect state. That's all for this time, and I hope everyone can bear with me.
