This finished Megumi Kato Cosplay shoot was set in the early summer Endless Summer hydrangea sea, where the white hydrangeas were in full bloom, their cascading flower clusters creating a soft, dreamy feel. For the outfit, I chose the classic red cardigan over a white top paired with a beret, along with a bow tie and white over-the-knee socks. This look is highly iconic in the original work Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend. The red and white color-blocking is very eye-catching amidst the green bushes, preserving the character's schoolgirl vibe while adding a touch of fairytale lightness. During the shoot, I specially tracked down a pink telephone booth as a supporting prop, which beautifully echoed the colors of the white flowers and the red jacket, adding a touch of narrative to the frame.
The lighting used was natural light from around 3 to 4 PM. The簡 backlight striking the petals filtered through as soft light, and a reflector was used from the front to ensure facial dimension, resulting in very clear skin tones and catchlights in the eyes. For poses, I tried making a heart shape, gently touching the flower branches, and leaning sideways against the telephone booth, hoping to display Megumi Kato's casual yet slightly playful aura. When planning this set initially, I wanted to emphasize the feeling of a 'secret base in a sea of flowers.' Therefore, the post-processing mainly adjusted the tones, slightly lowering the saturation of the greens to highlight the contrast between white and red, following an overall fresh and translucent Anime-style photography style. Weather is truly crucial for outdoor shoots; that day happened to be clear and windless, and the flowers were in pristine condition, which is why we achieved such a satisfying result. Every time I cosplay Megumi Kato, I gain different insights. This time, I focused more on catching her natural, relaxed side, hoping to convey that cozy sense of proximity, as if she is 'right by your side.'
