Sailor uniform, dark blue pleated skirt, and golden twin-tails fluttering in the wind—this time I chose the sunny and casual Hifumi Ajitani from Blue Archive as the blueprint for my styling. To recreate her relaxed, everyday vibe, we set the shooting location in a very classic wooden classroom.
I tried my best to pursue accuracy in the costume details. The cut of this sailor uniform fits the character setting perfectly, and the bright yellow bow at the neckline serves as the visual focus of the entire look, preventing the white sweater and dark blue sailor collar from looking monotonous. The transition between the waist and the skirt hem was also specially handled, allowing the pleated skirt to maintain a natural fan-like spread when sitting down or walking. Black tights paired with a dark pleated skirt is the most classic combination in school uniform fashion, easily accentuating the leg shape. Visually, it captures both the youthfulness of a schoolgirl and the crispness of Japanese JK uniforms.
Since it's a classroom scene, we mainly utilized the warm, natural afternoon light pouring in, which is also my favorite part of the final photos. The light streams in from the side of the window, casting long shadows on the wooden desks, sculpting a very warm and nostalgic visual feel of youth. The photographer @Chaoxian is highly skilled at capturing this kind of light and shadow atmosphere. During the shoot, he intentionally guided me to do some relatively casual movements, such as resting one leg on the desk, looking back at the camera, or holding those fluffy Peroro plush toys and interacting with my bag.
Playing with these props in the studio was a huge stress reliever. Master Peroro's exaggerated expression inherently carries a comedic effect, making it really hard to maintain a straight face while holding it, and everyone was sent into several rounds of laughter on set. Although the frame looks relaxed, we actually adjusted our sitting postures and camera positions quite a few times for the sake of the lighting angles. Ensuring a clean frame while capturing enough dynamic energy places a certain demand on expression control and body management.
Beyond taking solo shots, the classroom background chosen this time made me feel that familiar campus air from Blue Archive. The wooden podium, the faint chalk marks left on the blackboard, and even the idle globe in the corner all became indispensable ambient accents in the frame. This style of blending 2D characters into real-life settings has always been a favorite of mine in cosplay. It allows the character to step out of screen savers and truly stand there, accompanying us through a real afternoon.
I've always felt that Hifumi's personality is a bit clumsy yet highly reliable, so I tried my best to maintain a relaxed, slightly lazy state during the shoot. I hope to convey this bright, sunny, and pleasantly lazy campus atmosphere to everyone through this set of photos. Discovering more facets of a character's temperament during each Roleplay process is the greatest satisfaction that Anime-style photography and cosplay bring to me.
