This time shooting the evening gown styling of Azur Lane's St. Louis, the overall setting was placed in a casino bar full of retro luxury. To match the character's poised yet highly tense temperament, a lot of effort went into the styling beforehand. This bright blue twin-tails wig was specially given a fluffy wavy curl treatment, paired with a silver sequin slip split long dress, producing extremely textured reflections under warm-yellow ambient lighting. In terms of makeup, the eye contours were heavily emphasized, matched with blue contact lenses and metallic gloss lip gloss, with a chip in the mouth serving as a small prop, instantly pulling people into that decadent setting.
The scene arrangement is the soul of this shoot. The green gambling table served as the visual center, covered with prop cash, playing cards, and various chips, while the wine cabinet and bar counter in the back provided great depth of field layering. During the shoot, the lighting mainly relied on the warm-toned main light of movie lights, cooperating with the bar's built-in light strips, creating an ambiguous yet dangerous atmosphere. For the shot sitting on the gambling table, I tried to showcase the character's confidence and cynicism through a casual kneeling posture and hand gestures. When shooting the lying posture, it actually has quite high demands on core strength; to maintain the extension of the body and the smoothness of the leg lines, the position of the center of gravity needed constant adjustment. Lying on a desktop covered with cash and playing cards, not only had to control facial expressions to avoid laughing, but also had to balance the relaxation of the limbs, letting the material of the silver sequin dress flow naturally under the light.
The last pose lying prone on the edge of the table is one I personally love very much. Raising the legs not only makes the composition more dynamic, but combined with fingers lightly touching the lips, it also adds a bit of playfulness and seductive meaning. The biggest difficulty here lies in balance, requiring sufficient arm support while allowing the waist to naturally sink, showcasing the curve from the back to the legs. The emotional expression of the entire set of photos relies entirely on the coordination of actions and gaze. As a cosplayer, portraying this style of character requires not just the restoration of costumes and props, but even more so conveying the character's soul through body language. Communication with the photographer during the shoot was very smooth; we constantly adjusted angles and poses, striving for every single shot to capture that dramatic sense of full revelry under the casino night. Every time the shutter is pressed, it's a visualization of the understanding of the character, hoping that these finally presented images let everyone feel the unique visual impact of this evening gown.
