[Jingliu Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, a Journey of Restoration Set in an Autumn Pavilion

Shooting this styling for Jingliu, the core investment was actually in the material selection for the props. That translucent blue greatsword feels much heavier in hand than it looks. To achieve this crystal-like luster and the complex tassel pendant on the hilt, friends at the studio spent several all-nighters modeling and coloring it. On the day of the shoot, to capture this texture, we tried different angles and finally found that standing beside the pavilion pillars and swinging it sideways could produce a wonderful echo with its own elongated structure.

The costume's blue, white, and gold color scheme displays amazing expressiveness under outdoor natural light. The neckline and cuffs utilize multi-layered piecing, especially the white three-dimensional flower decoration on the shoulder, which looks exceptionally layered. When preparing this outfit, I paid special attention to the tailoring of the shoulders and waist. After all, finding a balance between traditional ancient style and Chinese-style fantasy requires ensuring the character's own martial arts aura without looking bloated. The boots are also a highlight of this styling; from Figure 2, the black long boots paired with blue and gold trim, along with the sharp silver heels, visually elongate the lower body proportions, and combined with the sitting posture, they truly outline the curves of the legs and body beautifully.

The details of the blindfold are the key to deciding the character's temperament. In Figure 1, when wearing the silver-ornamented black blindfold, I needed to completely rely on body movements and a slightly raised jaw in front of the camera to convey the character's feeling of "unseeing eyes but an already clear heart." Conversely, in Figure 2, when taking off the blindfold and revealing that iconic red pupil, the entire aura becomes a bit softer. I intentionally styled the silver wig to be somewhat voluminous, letting the front bangs and side hair fall naturally so that even when it's windy outdoors or when moving, it maintains a sufficiently good head shape.

Regarding the choice of the shooting location, we just happened to find a traditional Chinese long corridor with dark wooden standing pillars. Many leaves of the surrounding trees had turned yellow and red, scattered on the ground and the distant grass. This autumn environmental light and Jingliu's originally cool setting formed a wonderful chemical reaction. While retaining the character's cold, aloof, and proud traits, we wanted to utilize these warm-toned natural elements to keep the frames from appearing too empty. The sunlight that day wasn't too intense; it was soft diffuse light, which was highly favorable for expressing the translucency of the white wig and the gold embroidery on the clothes.

The hardest part of restoring this character is actually the grasping of her demeanor. Her background carries a deep sense of destiny and a resolute will, which requires my gaze during Cosplay photography, even without the blindfold's cover, to convey a sense of detachment that does not focus on the mundane world. In Figure 2, I adopt a sitting pose with my legs naturally crossed and my right hand slightly raised; though seemingly casual, the entire body posture needs to maintain a straight and upright framework. This is not just a cosplay, but an examination of the character's inner personality.

Of course, some small troubles were encountered during the outdoor location process, such as the wig constantly getting caught on tree branches, and that weapon prop also picking up quite a bit of mud after wrapping up. However, this is precisely the part that cannot be experienced in an indoor studio shoot. The outdoor wind, light, and even the humidity in the air will genuinely shape the atmosphere of a set of works. Being able to wear this carefully designed attire and stand for a brief moment in a scene so rich in classical heritage is already a form of homage to the character. During post-editing, I intentionally deepened the shadows and stabilized the high-light blue-white colors to maintain this cool, restrained, and powerful visual tone.
