At this year's Genshin Impact FES venue, I decided to bring that enigmatic Fatui Damselette from the game into reality. The wig styling for this Columbina cosplay is truly unique—featuring a black-and-white base with a vivid crimson gradient at the ends, while the white feathered wing hair accessories atop the head greatly enhanced character recognition, giving the head silhouette a refined and lightweight contour.
The costume craftsmanship was extremely meticulous. Most eye-catching was the ornate emblem on the chest inlaid with gold and blue gems, complemented by a crescent moon pendant at the bottom, flawlessly aligning with the character's inherent grace and nobility. Dominated by a pure white palette, it is accented with blue stitching, ribbons, and gold trims. The off-the-shoulder cut layered with ruffled draping provides rich depth, projecting a sacred yet delicately vulnerable aura. To faithfully recreate her iconic element, I personally helped sculpt the white geometric mesh blindfold. While this openwork structure added immense mystery, walking through the crowded convention crowds heavily obstructed my vision, requiring careful navigation—thankfully, everything went smoothly without a hitch.
The large feathered wings on my back were equally central to this look. White feathers supported by a lightweight skeleton rested across my shoulders, swaying naturally with every step to deliver an airy, high-impact visual. During the photoshoot, my favorite pose was the sideways glance back over my shoulder, where the angle of my head turn had to harmonize precisely with the light. To capture that gorgeous backlighting and creamy bokeh, the photographer and I spent over ten minutes coordinating before finding the ideal spot. Facing the camera, I had to balance the stability of the glowing orb prop to ensure even illumination while maintaining serene composure and the character's tranquil aura.
While shooting this set, I noticed the venue lighting leaned cool; adding subtle fill light beautifully flattered my skin texture and elevated the pearl-white sheen of the dress. Inside the hall, I also encountered other Genshin Impact cosplayers, exchanging voicelines with each other in a joyful atmosphere. During breaks, I took off the blindfold to ease eye fatigue, as navigating partial darkness for hours made my eyes strain. Even so, seeing these finished photos brought immense satisfaction.
From prop crafting and wig styling to the final makeup look, the intricate journey was brimming with fulfillment. Genshin Impact FES is not merely a celebration, but an incredible chance to fully immerse myself in the character's world. Portraying this Fatui Damselette wasn't just about wearing an opulent shell, but embodying her unshakeable inner composure. Though walking around the venue with a heavy train and wings was physically exhausting, gathering and interacting with fellow Genshin Impact fans was an irreplaceable experience. That evening, though my arms ached after removing the gear, looking back on the experience was utterly sweet. Every tiny detail of this design is truly worth savoring.
