Today at the Chengdu CD30 comic convention, I did the maid outfit of Formidable from Azur Lane. To put it straight about this costume, the details are truly abundant. The whole outfit is a classic black-and-white color-scheme maid outfit, but very gorgeous. The design on the chest is a halter-neck style, paired with a black bow with a ruby, and the neckline is surrounded by white lace ruffles. The most eye-catching parts are the two sleeves: black puff sleeves plus extremely wide white lace trumpet sleeves at the cuffs, which give a special sense of drama when posing. The headpiece worn on the head is also very characteristic, with black-and-white interlaced lace plus a small cross decoration, carrying a slight dark gothic feel. To restore the character, the wig was chosen as light golden long straight hair, with blunt bangs plus long sideburns on both sides; it needed to be carefully combed smooth and sprayed with anti-frizz care solution.

In terms of makeup, I focused on portraying red-brown eye makeup, paired with same-colored contact lenses, to highlight Formidable's slightly arrogant yet playful gaze. The base makeup must remain clean and matte because the lighting at the convention site is relatively complex.

What I felt required the most thought was the lower body pairing. The skirt is a fluffy multi-layered design, with black lace on the outside and white pleated hems on the inside, plus a huge black bow and a long train at the back, so I had to constantly pay attention not to be stepped on while walking. On my legs, I wore white tights cosplay, paired with lace-trimmed sock rings, and for shoes, I chose black platform Mary Jane shoes, which can lengthen the leg proportions.

Shooting at the convention site is actually quite challenging. The pedestrian flow of Chengdu CD30 is huge, and it is very hard to find a clean background. The photographer brought a telephoto lens and a large aperture, using the lighting on top of the venue as background light spots to strip the character out of the cluttered environment. I tried different poses in front of the lens. For example, raising both hands to put them on both sides of the head, or touching the hair with one hand and extending the other hand forward. Showing the silhouette of the large skirt hem from the side is a good choice, as it can capture both the layers of the skirt hem and showcase the white tights cosplay and leg rings. Because I was wearing a dress with a train, I had to pay special attention to the center of gravity when turning around and posing.

Because this maid outfit has a certain degree of skin exposure in the chest and leg areas, relaxing a bit in action can yield great screen tension. I often habitually use small actions to enrich the picture, such as fingers lightly touching the lips or fingertips. The entire shooting process was very compact. To catch the best light and avoid crowds, the photographer guided in great detail, and our cooperation was very tacit. The final selected photos restore the costume material and lace texture exceptionally well. The black-and-white color scheme clothing is indeed very prominent under dark-toned backgrounds. Actually, walking around the venue wearing this outfit, especially those big trumpet sleeves and the train, makes it very easy to get stained with dust from the floor, so during breaks I was always tidying up the clothes. However, seeing the waves of the skirt hem and the texture of the lace in the photos made all these troubles feel worthwhile. During the shoot, to avoid passersby entering the frame, we deliberately found a relatively less crowded place at the edge of the venue, utilizing the venue's own architectural lines and ceiling lights to add some sense of depth, and the overall photo output effect is very satisfying.
