For this Firefly ACG Expo, I specially chose this Laffey look to meet everyone. As a highly distinct destroyer in Azur Lane, Laffey's lazy demeanor of potentially falling asleep anytime, anywhere actually tests one's grasp of expression and sense of relaxation. To recreate this state, I intentionally softened facial contouring in makeup, applying a translucent and natural base. The eye makeup avoided heavy colors and instead slightly drooped following the eye shape, creating a soft visual effect like just waking up with a dreamy glaze in her eyes. The pale silver-grey long hair is the soul of the entire look; paired with the huge aqua-blue ribbon bow atop her head, it looks extraordinarily fresh under outdoor natural light. The smoothness of hair strands was meticulously combed before shooting to prevent frizz from ruining the clean vibe.
Regarding the costume, this white and blue sailor-style long-sleeved coat features blue and white striped splicing on the collar and cuffs, with long light-blue ribbons extending from the hem. When sitting on the outdoor stone steps, the ribbons cascaded down the steps, adding a sense of serene extension to the overall composition. The lower body is paired with white long socks, with a matching color thigh ring strap on her left leg—a subtle detail that aligns with character settings while enhancing visual depth. The white fluffy plush animal slippers on her feet were the ultimate finishing touch; they neutralized the structured feel of the uniform, bringing a cozy, lounging-in-the-dormitory relaxation that perfectly fits Laffey's trait of "falling asleep anywhere."
As for shooting poses, I adjusted them during communication with the photographer. The first photo chose a sitting pose turning back sideways, utilizing the stone steps as a natural seat with legs tucked together—showing off the white socks and thigh ring details while establishing an eye connection with the lens through the slight head turn. This pose looks casual, but controlling one's center of gravity is crucial since long ribbons easily get dirty or tangled, requiring careful unfolding before sitting. The second photo completely released that lazy vibe, closing my eyes and stretching both arms upward like a girl just waking up and stretching. This gesture referenced the character's everyday habits, appearing natural without feeling staged. The white long socks reflected in the sunlight, creating a collision of soft and hard textures against the cold stone steps, giving the frame both visual texture and a sense of daily life.
This shoot at the convention was actually an attempt full of pleasant surprises. Outdoor sunlight and roadside greenery provided a remarkably fresh backdrop for this blue and white outfit. Without deliberately constructing a lavish studio, roadside stone steps and occasional passing pedestrians instead allowed the character "Laffey" to step out of the game and truly live in the everyday scenery of the 3D world. Although squatting on the stone steps to adjust angles multiple times while constantly ensuring long ribbons didn't pick up dust was challenging, seeing the relaxed and natural state presented in the final Convention photos made every bit worth it. Through this set of photos, I hope to convey the unique gentleness and quietness of that adorable shipgirl from Azur Lane who loves sleeping and has zero worries, recording that daily feeling of "Good night... Commander..." authentically through images in this Roleplay endeavor.
