This photoshoot of Cheshire's Lunar New Year Qipao perfectly captured the joyful atmosphere of the Spring Festival. Building upon the classic anime character design, this styling incorporated modern modifications of traditional Chinese elements, preserving the character's adorable traits while adding a touch of festive splendor.

Let's start with the costume details. The red, black, and gold modified qipao served as the core of the entire shoot. The upper half features a halter-neck white collar with traditional frog buttons and a teardrop keyhole cut-out at the chest, paired with a black brocade fabric accented with gold threads, creating a graceful balance with a hint of subtle allure. The skirt hem was tailored with deep red velvet, which offered great texture and sheen; its gold embroidery patterns shimmered brightly under the studio lighting. The most eye-catching touches were the plush elements: the arm warmers at the shoulders and the white faux-fur capelet at the collar added a three-dimensional sense of warmth, making the entire look exceptionally fluffy, cute, and fitting for the New Year setting.

Hair and makeup were equally vital to this Cheshire Cosplay. The wig chosen for this shoot had refreshing teal-green highlights in the bangs over a black base. This color contrast neutralized the heavier look of the traditional qipao and added the crisp brightness characteristic of anime designs. The matching blue contact lenses echoed the hair color, making the eyes look more spirited. For headpieces, two pointed white plush animal ears featured layered detailing at the base for a natural fit. The headpiece was also decorated with oversized red paper flowers, white lace ruffles, and hanging red tassels, creating an abundant festive vibe. The small star and moon pendants by the ears added a delicate touch to this intricate styling.

The styling for the lower half was another focal point. This time, I chose white ruffled safety shorts paired with pure white over-the-knee socks featuring lace trims for a White thigh-highs outfit. The garter strap design further elongated the silhouette. On my feet, black patent leather high heels with a glossy finish and red soles created striking visual contrasts—black against white, and red against black—when stepping onto the thick white plush rug or wooden bench, extending the leg lines and enhancing the overall presence.

The set design and seamless chemistry with photographer @yy7 also played a crucial role. As seen in the photos, the background was a meticulously arranged traditional Chinese set. A dark Chinese wooden bench, a circular illuminated backdrop with the "Fu" character, red paper fans and couplets on both sides, plum blossom branches and red lanterns on the right, and the prominent golden ingot prop at the bottom all contributed to a retro, holiday-filled studio space. During the shoot, @yy7 masterfully controlled the wide aperture and background lighting to isolate the subject from the backdrop without washing out the light and shadows. The cover photo, where I lean forward on the plush mat, showcased the keyhole details of the costume while accentuating the White thigh-highs outfit and leg lines, rendering skin textures beautifully under the lights.

For the overall presentation, I believe this combination of traditional Lunar New Year elements, an anime beast-eared girl, and a modern modified qipao is a great exploration that aligns with current Guochao trends and the character's temperament. Although the shoot required constant posture adjustments to avoid garment creases and manage the fluffiness of the plush trims, the final imagery packed a strong visual punch. This is both a tribute to Azur Lane's Cheshire and an experiment in merging holiday vibes with Anime-style photography. I hope everyone enjoys this festive anime styling.
