Taking advantage of a break during the anime convention, I shot a set of New Year-themed photos with photographer WiFi, cosplaying Cheshire's Qipao outfit from Azur Lane.

Great care went into the design of this costume, with a classic red-and-white color contrast taking center stage. The upper half features a halterneck off-the-shoulder short Qipao with metallic-textured knot decorations on the neckline and chest. Paired with semi-transparent black lace illusion paneling, it blends a touch of playful charm into the traditional, elegant Qipao silhouette, fitting the character's personality perfectly. The massive white bow headpiece serves as the soul of this look—not only featuring iconic geometric tailoring, but also adorned on both sides with 3D red flower accents that echo the red outfit seamlessly. The wig is a blue-gray gradient short cut with inward-curled air bangs, trimmed to just the right length to frame the face and soften facial contours.

For the lower half, I paired it with lace-trimmed white thigh-high stockings and red velvet pointed high heels. I particularly adore the design detail of these shoes: a delicate chain of small pearls wrapped around the ankles, elevating the overall elegance. To add layers, I styled it with a white fluffy shawl; its fuzzy texture felt exceptionally warm under the cool-toned indoor lights. Although wearing a fluffy shawl indoors during a shoot felt a bit warm and stuffy, it truly served as an indispensable visual balance for this photo set.

Our prop for this shoot was a red scroll inscribed with \"Da Zhan Hong Tu\" (May you realize your grand ambitions), featuring gold-accented ends that felt substantial in hand with intricate patterns. This prop perfectly suited the early New Year greeting vibe, providing anchor points for posing and keeping my hands from awkwardly floating.

The location chosen was an indoor space at the convention hall featuring a typical industrial style. The gray polished concrete floor reflected long fluorescent tube lights aligned neatly overhead, complemented by gray bare concrete pillars, giving the space a cool, minimalist tone. This cooler backdrop actually served to highlight the vibrant red-and-white outfit even better, creating a sharp and striking visual contrast.

The shooting process went smoothly, with most poses coming naturally according to the environment and props. For instance, in several shots I sat on a black metal folding bar stool with my legs crossed and hanging down naturally. This posture showcased the hemline length while beautifully presenting leg lines, accented by pointed high heels to stretch the overall proportions slenderly. Photographer WiFi excelled at capturing dynamic moments—whether taking waist-up close-ups of sitting poses or framing full-body compositions, subtly tilting the camera up slightly to elongate the silhouette or capturing detailed close-ups of holding the scroll.

To better align with the character setting, I quickly adjusted my state in front of the lens, striving to convey a lively, playful, yet confident energy. Despite the busy convention environment with people coming and going, the moment the shutter clicked, I became fully immersed in the atmosphere created by this outfit, focusing entirely on facial expressions and body posture execution.

Overall, this Qipao cosplay New Year outfit boasts a high level of completion in both color coordination and detailed touches. Within the cool industrial venue, different angles and postures brought forth a variety of distinct visual dynamics. Thanks to the fabric's smooth drape, it avoided looking bulky on camera, leading to an extremely efficient photoshoot that fulfilled all our expected results.
