[Remielle Cosplay] Strolling Through the Garden of Forking Paths: Zenless Zone Zero 2nd Anniversary Commemoration

This set of dual-faced Angels and Demons Remielle cosplay photos from Zenless Zone Zero is officially released, perfectly coinciding with the 2nd anniversary of Zenless Zone Zero, which holds a special meaning for me. The core of this creative project revolves around "The Garden of Forking Paths" and a "twin style," so I blended two completely distinct styles—white wings and black wings—into the same shoot.

Let's start with the overall styling preparation. Since the wing elements in the character design are crucial, I specially customized two types of wing props with different materials. For the white wings set, I chose lightweight white feathers layered with gauze, which fit the torso lines nicely without looking bulky. The black wings set utilized compressed dark feathers, adding a lot of gothic weight. As for the wig, I selected a matte light-pink wig, trimming and volumizing it to craft side-framing bangs and a high side ponytail. The curve and volume of the ponytail were adjusted multiple times to ensure it maintained a 3D contour even when lying down or supine.

Regarding the outfit tailoring, the white version used pure white fabric with irregular pleats and hard silver trim. The neckline design exposed the collarbone and shoulder lines, while the waist and midriff featured strappy and cutout structures, which displayed great visual tension during movement. The lower half consisted of a high-slit skirt paired with pure white pantyhose. The black wings version was a patchwork of glossy patent leather and semi-sheer black gauze, with a galactic starburst cutout design at the center of the chest, paired with black strappy high heels. In dark indoor studio lighting, the reflections of the patent leather provided a wonderful contrast in texture.

The main weapon prop was a longsword with a silver crossguard. To complement the supine posture and maintain visual balance, I specially adjusted the sword's angle and holding stance during the shoot. In the white wings version, I raised my legs to lean against a white step prop with the longsword resting diagonally across my body, creating a diagonal composition reinforced by pink and purple ambient light for a dreamy, soft atmosphere. In the black wings version, I adopted a more relaxed crossed-leg posture with the sword standing vertically, which, combined with the black wings behind and the gothic patterned rug on the floor, emphasized a cool, mysterious aura.

In terms of scene construction, to fit Remielle's story atmosphere, I specially used purple ambient lighting. The white wings chapter used a cluster of white roses to construct a raised garden-like structure, with reflective plastic film laid on the ground to create the illusion of water reflections. The black wings chapter switched to a deep purple velvet sofa with gold trim, a complex floral rug on the floor, and a few scattered red rose petals, utilizing single overhead and side lighting to create dramatic shadow zones.

We actually faced quite a few challenges during the shoot. Because of the many "grounded" or "supine" perspectives, my hair, feathers, and accessories were prone to getting tangled with the background materials, requiring extremely meticulous coordination between the photographer and myself for every movement adjustment. Furthermore, the longsword prop was quite heavy. Holding the sword one-handed while lying flat and keeping the blade horizontal required deliberate core muscle engagement. However, it was precisely these subtle controls and adjustments that created the final image's posture—both relaxed and imbued with strength.

For this Zenless Zone Zero 2nd anniversary creation, I spent a long time contemplating how to recreate Remielle's demeanor using photographic language. In a single finished image, one must emphasize both the symbolic nature of 2D characters—such as wings and longswords—and incorporate the realistic light and shadow textures belonging to 3D real-life photography. I am thrilled to completely present both the ethereal grace of the white outfit and the dark elegance of the black outfit.
