[Rem cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Night Photography in the Grass and Counting Sheep Moments

Sharing the entire experience of this outdoor night shoot. I've always wanted to capture a set of photos that feels tranquil and genuinely soothing. Night photography atmosphere is much more challenging than shooting during the day because of lighting and blending the subject into the surroundings, so a lot of prep went into the details. The white Fuzzy outfit top and bunny-ear headband look incredibly soft under the warm-toned light, and the texture looks just like a real little lamb or bunny through the lens. Paired with pink knitted fingerless gloves and Over-the-knee socks, it's comfortable to the touch while flattering the legs nicely.

To create that serene vibe of "counting sheep" in the grass at night, photographer Xiao Xie Xin put immense thought into lighting. After dark, there were many bugs in the grass, and the ground was damp and chilly, but to capture dreamy light and shadows, we adjusted through many poses on the lawn. The star lights in my hand served as a great prop for fill light; lighting up the face from up close made the eyes glisten vividly. The brass bell made a crisp tinkling sound as I moved, adding a wonderful mood to the quiet night.

The blue gradient wig took on a distinctive sheen under warm light. To match the overall look, I specifically adjusted the angle of the colored contacts and eye makeup to make facial features appear more delicate. During shooting, the photographer guided me to block the light slightly with my hand or adjust the leg placement so the subject looked more relaxed within the frame. Especially when sitting in the grass wearing Over-the-knee socks, paying close attention to composition helped the leg lines look natural. Nighttime light and shadow are difficult to control; sometimes waiting for the exact right ray of light or creating starry bokeh in the background required numerous takes. This styling expressed itself even better under the night sky than in daylight, giving the feeling of stepping right into a painting.

Taking photos is truly physically demanding, especially crouching and sitting outdoors for long periods while maintaining delicate facial expressions. But seeing the final shots with their warm, slightly tranquil haziness made all the perseverance worthwhile. My biggest takeaway from this night shoot was that a peaceful environment allows one to be more immersed—not just in physical posing, but in emotional connection. This night shoot experience was completely different from daytime shooting; the backlit effect combined with artificial lights and shimmering bokeh among the grass gave the photos a fairy-tale quality, perfectly matching the original theme of sleep and dreams. I hope these photos capture this unique time—no burden intended, just feeling this quiet sense of companionship.
