The most time-consuming part of the preliminary preparation was the makeup and wig. Rem's blue hair is her soul, and the styling was tailored to ensure the thickness of the blunt bangs and the snugness of the sideburns. The contact lenses were chosen in a translucent sea-blue. To match the overall sacred atmosphere, the base makeup was kept relatively translucent, the eye makeup toned down its original sharpness with a bit of fine shimmer added, and the blush and lip gloss were chosen in pinkish-tender shades to enhance vitality.

In terms of costume, it is a pure white off-the-shoulder dress with a large bow on the chest, and the skirt features a multi-layered lace and ruffled design, which gives it a very natural fluffiness when walking. As for props, the halo and Feathered wings were the focus. The halo was fixed with a headband and fine wire, and considering the heavy foot traffic at the convention, the base was specially reinforced. The skeleton of the wings was chosen from lightweight materials, and the feathers were straightened and glued on one by one, keeping the overall weight under control without placing too much burden on the shoulders.

The lighting at the convention site was actually quite complex. Although there were many ceiling lights in the venue, the floor was made of a large-area reflective material, which easily made the images look grayish. Photographer Matcha is very skilled at handling this kind of ambient light. We found a relatively open area at the edge of the venue, utilizing a large aperture to blur out the crowds and photography equipment in the background, allowing the visual center to fall entirely on the subject.

In terms of action design, I deliberately restrained the original Rem's posture of leaning forward slightly and always being ready to serve, trying instead to stretch out my limbs as much as possible. The sitting posture requires paying attention to the crossing angle of the legs, which can both elongate the visual effect of the legs and let the skirt spread out naturally without exposing anything due to excessive movement. When standing, lifting the skirt hem with the left hand while lightly touching the cheek with the right hand, or slightly spreading both hands in coordination with the wings behind, creates a sense of lightness. In the photo sitting on the ground, with arms raised close to the head and a vacant gaze towards the lens, the goal was to capture a sacred atmosphere with a sense of detachment.

Many people cosplaying Rem tend to express her affectionate and brave side, whereas this Angel setting focuses more on etherealness and restraint. The gaze shouldn't be too sharp, nor too lively, requiring a state of calm yet a touch of gentleness. In the noisy convention environment, quickly entering the character's state is a basic requirement for a coser, and before each press of the shutter, I would silently count to three in my heart to adjust my breathing and expression.

Shooting Convention photos is actually a test of physical strength and patience. To wait for the crowd in the background to disperse, we posed multiple times in the same spot. The large wings occasionally brushed against passersby when turning around, so extra care was taken when moving. However, seeing the finished photos—the pleats of the white dress, the layering of the feathers, and the texture of the live lighting and shadows hitting the fabric—all the hard work was worth it.
