[Rem cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Angel Rem Kitchen Shoot

This shoot featured Rem's angel form from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. Since the outfit is pure white and accented with large wings and a halo, we specifically chose a kitchen with white tiles and stainless steel countertops to enhance visual contrast, keeping the overall frame clean and bright.

Starting with the hair and makeup, although the outfit looks simple, it actually features numerous layers of lace and ruffles with a substantial, textured feel. A stiffer fabric was chosen for the skirt so that it maintains its flared volume when sitting or moving without collapsing. The bright blue of the wig looks stunning; to secure the feathered wing hairpieces on both sides, quite a few bobby pins and adhesive were used, and I constantly had to make sure the feathers didn't flare up awkwardly during shooting.

Photo 3 is my favorite from this set, which is why it was chosen as the cover. In this pose, my torso leans forward with one hand reaching toward the lens, while the other leg hangs naturally suspended, utilizing wide-angle lens perspective to elongate leg lines. Since this look is barefoot without stockings, I paid special attention to pointing my instep and keeping a smooth line from calf to foot, making the legs look longer and adding visual tension.

For props, to prevent the background from feeling bland, the studio setup utilized the kitchen's built-in wooden shelves adorned with small bamboo baskets, wooden brushes, and a white kettle. A plush beige high-pile rug covered the wooden floor, adding lovely warmth and texture. The tulip planter box held in hand served as a wonderful foreground prop; even though the flowers were plastic, they blended seamlessly into the fresh kitchen scene under high-key lighting without feeling out of place.

Regarding lighting, the photographer used a very large softbox primarily to brighten skin tones and cast clean, pure light and shadow across the white dress, preventing the image from turning dull and gray. During post-processing, shadow brightness was lifted to give the face a luminous, translucent look, while highlights were controlled so the white tiles in the kitchen wouldn't blow out, preserving a crisp, refreshing overall palette.

The shooting process really tested physical control. Holding that suspended sitting pose required abdominal core engagement for stability, otherwise I would wobble. The wings on my back were quite large and often brushed against the background cabinets, requiring constant repositioning of my seat and wing angles. The floating halo was anchored into my hair with a very fine wire, which looked remarkably airy once we found the right low-angle perspective.

Modeling in Guangzhou this time, supported by great lighting, everything from looking down at the flower box to reaching forward in perspective achieved the desired effect. The Angel Rem look presented a unique, tangible quality under clean, bright, warm lighting, evoking a sheer, ethereal atmosphere.
