[Rem Cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Cheshire Cat-ear maid outfit

The creative core of this Cheshire Rem cat cosplay is combining Rem's original maid outfit with cat elements, presenting it within the fantasy setting of Alice in Wonderland. To fit the theme, I wore a blue bob wig with the iconic white cross hairpin clipped to the bangs, added a white cat-ear headpiece on top of the head decorated with floral trims and pink ribbons. In terms of makeup, I intentionally deepened the eye contours, paired with blue contact lenses to make the gaze look deeper, while lightly sweeping orange-pink blush to increase the playful feel of a cat-like girl. The clothing chosen is a black-and-white maid outfit, with intricate ruffles at the neckline, cuffs, and skirt hem, and a black cross star and bow added at the waist corset. Particularly worth mentioning is the matching white plush cat paw gloves, with light blue paw pads on the palms, paired with White stockings and brown chunky-heeled small leather shoes. The overall styling possesses both the elegance of a maid and the cuteness of a cat-girl.
The scene setup was done with great care. The Alice scene at Chuguang Imaging Studio provided a perfect background for me. The gray-blue-and-white diamond-patterned walls and checkered floor, coupled with the huge red paper roses on the left, instantly maxed out the fantasy atmosphere. The golden metal cage and Mr. White Rabbit doll on the right, along with orange-and-white polka-dot mushrooms scattered everywhere, made the layers of the frame extremely rich. During the shooting, I tried interacting using props, such as holding a white box, sitting on a chair to showcase leg lines, or squatting beside the cage to imitate cat movements.
When discussing the clothing details, the tailoring of this outfit is actually a huge test of fit. I cared deeply about the waist-cinching effect and the fluffiness of the skirt hem so that a nice umbrella-shaped silhouette could form when sitting down. Although the black-and-white color scheme is classic, it's easy to look dull if the proportions aren't well-handled; therefore, I added black-and-white bows of different sizes at the chest and waist as accents to break the monotony. The cat paw gloves are the soul of the entire styling; their plush material is very long, and to highlight them during photography, I deliberately tried actions like holding both hands on both sides of my cheeks or extending them forward, accompanied by a slightly tilted-head expression, hoping to maximize the restoration of a cat's laziness and cuteness.
Photographer Qingfeng Photographer V has a very sharp capture of light and shadow. To highlight the clothing's black-and-white contrast and the vibrancy of the blue hair, we made multiple adjustments to the lighting, ensuring the texture of the plush props could be clearly recorded. The setup on the shooting day was extremely realistic; those huge mushrooms and exaggerated red roses were actually artificial props. How to shoot a sense of realism in an artificial set was a small challenge for this shoot. After communicating with Qingfeng Photographer V, we decided to use a large aperture to blur the background, highlighting the subject while retaining the dreamy feel of the environment. When shooting sitting postures, I tried two methods: crossed legs and side-sitting, combining the visual effect of White stockings to make the body language look stretched and full of tension. In post-processing, Qingfeng Photographer V and I processed it together, mainly strengthening the transparency of colors, preserving skin texture, and making the red roses and mushrooms in the scene more eye-catching. We didn't over-smooth the skin, but preserved some skin texture and light-and-shadow transitions, making the photos look more breathable.
The entire creative process is not as simple as just pressing the shutter; from early makeup and styling preparation, prop communication, to emotional mobilization during shooting, and post-processing color grading, everyone's hard work has been poured into every step. Thanks to Teacher Gujiu for providing the studio shooting conditions, and thanks to C-Sakura Anime Club for the event organization, allowing me to complete the shooting of Cheshire Rem cat in a venue that fits the theme so well. I am truly very satisfied.
