This time, the Rem cat maid styling for China International Comics Festival Day 2 was a complete success. Choosing this set was mainly because I wanted to add a bit of cat-like elements on the basis of the classic Maid outfit, so I paired it with a white cat-ear headband and a plush tail. The wig was chosen as a light blue short bob with trimmed layers, and the bangs were decorated with pink cross clips, which is a rather iconic feature of the character. In terms of makeup, the focus was placed on eye makeup, with bright blue contact lenses paired with orange-pink blush to add a sense of energy, while keeping the base makeup as clear and translucent as possible to handle the outdoor natural light.
The overall clothing is a black and white color scheme, with intricate lace ruffles on the collar and cuffs, and a large black bow on the back. The skirt has plenty of fullness with a petticoat worn underneath, and the skirt hem features two layers of white lace. Small black bows are dotted on the chest and waist. The lower body is paired with pure white tights; to echo the Maid outfit, a small leg garter with jagged edges was added at the thigh, a detail that keeps the visual appearance of the legs from being too monotonous. The shoes are black patent leather Mary Jane shoes, and the glossy material matches the overall black and white color scheme very well.
The shooting location was outside the China International Comics Festival venue, where the afternoon light was relatively soft. Photographer NightDiva is great at capturing dynamic moments. We found a less-crowded corner outside and used on-site fill lights for shooting. The jumping action was shot several times, mainly to capture the moment of the skirt flying and the playful feel of the cat paw gesture; the support of the petticoat allowed the skirt to maintain a great arc while jumping. For the group of photos sitting on the ground, a white plush cushion was used, which could protect the skirt and increase the sense of layering in the frame. The side-sitting posture can well showcase the leg lines and the extensibility of the skirt. For the single-leg standing picture, the center of gravity needed to be placed on the supporting leg, with the other leg folded back and hands naturally placed near the knees, so that the overall look wouldn't be stiff.
There were many photographers and passersby at the scene, and everyone was very friendly. To showcase the details of the clothing, I deliberately adjusted my standing posture; the action of lifting the skirt can well show the lace of the skirt hem and the proportion of the lower body, while also making the layers of the clothing more distinct. The prop cat tail this time was fixed to the back of the skirt with safety pins, and it would sway slightly when walking, so I had to pay attention to the direction of the tail at any time during the shooting process. The overall shooting went very smoothly, and this outfit is also very photogenic at the convention site. The cat-ear hair accessory is a black headband with white flower decorations, which contrasts noticeably on the light blue wig and enhances the setup feel of the cat Maid. By adjusting different poses, the clothing details and the overall atmosphere can be fully displayed.
