This time I'm bringing a set of Arknights Ling cosplay main photos as part of Anime-style photography. The weather on the shooting day was fantastic; sunlight filtered through the bamboo leaves, creating strong layers of light and shadow that perfectly matched the character's cool and carefree aura.
Let's talk about the makeup and styling first. To fit Ling's design, the wig features dark blue long straight hair with a gradient, while the dragon horn hair accessories on top and the long Elf ears are the true soul, requiring repeated position adjustments during every wear to ensure no awkward slips show from any angle. The eye makeup adopts a red-pink gradient blended with deepened eyeliner, highlighting the character's slightly tipsy yet somewhat haughty expression.
The costume is the classic white wide-sleeved robe. Despite its overall ethereal flow, wearing it actually involves numerous layers. The inner blue gradient fabric, the gold details on the collar, and the purple bows and blue beads on the waist and gloves all needed careful grooming before the shoot. The brown and dark blue geometric-spliced train at the hem has quite some weight; it needed to be deliberately spread out while walking or posing to present the best visual effect. Paired with white platform lace-up boots and black leg straps, it visually lengthened the Long legs while facilitating various large-scale movements in the bamboo forest.
Regarding props, the long wooden pole and the hanging square lantern must be specially mentioned. Tied with hemp rope and combined with the lantern's weight, the setup is extremely heavy. To capture the effortless feel of carrying the long pole on the shoulder or holding it casually, my arms and shoulders had to constantly exert force to control the balance. The wooden frame of the lantern and the yellow light-transmitting panels have great texture; amidst the deep green bamboo forest background, that warm yellow splash is exceptionally eye-catching, adding plenty of visual impact to the frame.
The shooting location was chosen as a park with vast bamboo forests, water features, and a traditional red-railed pavilion. The bamboo forest naturally carries a wuxia and xianxia atmosphere, while the lakeside shots utilized stone railings and dark wooden pillars to increase environmental depth. Photographer Xiao Z is brilliant at catching light and shadow and capturing action shots. On site, we tried many poses, such as sitting on the red railing with one leg bent, stepping on props to raise a leg in the bamboo forest, and glancing back while carrying the weapon. These actions tested not only physical stamina, but also the need to maintain that casual, uninhibited sense of relaxation before the lens.
To capture the swaying motion of the lantern, we repeatedly adjusted the angle of the long pole and the position of the bead strings, ensuring every tiny detail could withstand close-up amplification. Throughout the entire photo shoot, although stamina was heavily depleted, seeing the collision of light, shadow, and color in the final photos made all the hard work completely worthwhile. This photo set aims primarily to showcase Ling's carefree, half-drunk, and half-awake state. I hope everyone enjoys this attempt in the bamboo forest.
