Golden Lion in Azur Lane features an elegant and gorgeous design, and bathed in this golden warm sun, I completed a long-anticipated shoot. Regarding this set of outdoor photos, I actually have a lot to chat about with everyone; after all, this clear light-and-shadow atmosphere really adds immense value to anime cosplay.

The first time I saw Golden Lion's character art design, I was drawn to the serene and sacred aura about her. Long golden hair, iconic elf ears, and a simple white chiffon top—these elements combined are highly recognizable and provided a clear direction for the shoot. To perfectly recreate this character this time, I specially selected a golden wig with a very smooth texture. As you can see, the wig color isn't a cheap flat yellow, but a light gold that refracts a warm sheen under sunlight. The hair strands are handled very lightly without looking overly heavy, capturing the character's agile charm much better.

As for makeup and hair, I tried my best to maintain a natural, clean base while focusing on eye makeup details. Elf ears were essential; the pair used this time fit the auricles very closely, and with proper color matching, looked completely natural from both front and side angles, as if real ears from another world had truly grown out. A green teardrop gemstone necklace was worn around the neck, paired with a collar featuring white lace and pearl elements, adding a touch of elegance and luxurious texture to the overall look. To maintain a translucent skin tone in the sunlight, I specifically chose a lightweight, breathable foundation, which combined with outdoor natural light to present a delicate skin radiance.

What I am proudest of is the lighting this time. People often say lighting is key in cosplay photography, but when outdoor natural light is used properly in outdoor photography, the result can be even more dreamy than a studio shoot. The shooting time was chosen during the golden hour in the afternoon, with the sun positioned right at a side-above angle, spilling through nearby bushes and flowers to form soft beams of light and shadow. Standing right in the gaps between flowers and leaves, sunlight pierced through tree shadows onto my face and wig; simply raising my head slightly and reaching out my fingertips allowed the light to outline the profile perfectly. The background I picked features scattered light-colored flowers and green leaves; under backlighting or side-backlighting, the background lights up with sunlight to form beautiful blurred bokeh, genuinely looking like sprinkled gold powder full of ethereal anime illustration vibes.

In fact, to capture that perfect "divine moment," we tried over and over on set. Because the sun moves quickly, the light shifts away if you aren't paying attention. To wait for just the right beam of light, I sometimes had to stand still in one spot for minutes, holding the exact same pose waiting for the correct light angle—a considerable test of the model's endurance and expression. Fortunately, the final photos turned out exceptionally ideal with maximum atmospheric feel; I must say, that feeling of being bathed in sunlight and enveloped in warmth was fully recorded through the lens.

Beyond light and shadow, I intentionally adjusted my movements and facial expressions to match the character's temperament. Golden Lion is gentle yet resilient, so in front of the lens I tried to keep my posture stretched and light, looking relaxed toward the upper diagonal while raising my arm as if touching the sunlight or feeling the breeze. During the shoot, I also kept my body language relaxed rather than tense to suit her calm elegance. The makeup was photogenic under harsh light without oily reflections, keeping eyelash and eyeliner details crisp—a real testament to setting makeup technique. Between shots, I checked the wig's fluffiness at any time to make sure the golden hair gleamed brightly in every photo.

Being able to create such a healing cosplay work in a natural environment brings me a great sense of accomplishment. The biggest charm of outdoor photography lies in the unknown: you never know how beautiful the angle of hair blowing in the wind will be in the next second, nor how stunning the moment light pierces through leaves will look. And this uncertainty is precisely where the fun of creation lies. Preparing for Golden Lion required not only proper costumes and props, but also acute perception of light and deep inner understanding of the character. I wasn't trying to make a flawless retouched photo, but rather to faithfully recreate that unique calm and peaceful vibe inherent to her.

Every time I look back at these photos, I am reminded of that pleasant feeling of basking in the sun amid gentle breezes. For players who like Azur Lane and this character, I hope to bring you a different sense of three-dimensionality through my perspective and visual language. Although this styling appears simple at first glance, a lot of thought went into every detail—from color selection of the hair to accessory pairing, down to matching the shooting environment. I think this is the insight a cosplayer gradually accumulates after experiencing many shoots.
