The theme of this shoot revolves around 'Spring Letter,' choosing this outfit for Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail in hopes of presenting a light, spring-like school atmosphere. For the overall look, a cropped white sailor top is paired with a dark gray plaid pleated skirt, along with white over-the-knee socks and black loafers, creating a classic and richly layered JK uniform combination. This refreshing summer or early summer feel happens to fit the character's own temperament while allowing for an everyday visual presentation.

The detailed treatment of the outfit is crucial. The cropped sailor shirt doesn't completely cover the waist, allowing a bit of the waistline to show in the composition, which greatly enhances overall proportions. The placket is adorned with gold buttons, and a large bow tie with cyan-green and gold plaid is tied at the neckline, with a gold chain ornament hanging underneath. The cuffs feature gray and white striped edging—details that keep the white top from looking plain. The waistband of the pleated skirt uses gray to echo the upper body colors, and the skirt's plaid creates great dynamic movement when walking or posing.

As for the wig, this silver gradient wig shows a soft texture under sunlight, with cyan-blue gradient tips adding visual depth. Cyan-gray bow hair accessories are fixed on the top and side of the head, serving as finishing touches. When preparing the hair and makeup, silver-white hair can easily look frizzy if not handled well, so styling requires extra care. For makeup coordination, striking pink contact lenses were chosen, with glitter accents added to the eye makeup, paired with pink blush and reddish lips to soften any cold impression, making the overall look carry a lively anime texture in front of the camera.

The reddish-brown leather school bag held in hand is also an essential part of the look. Within the dominant white and gray palette, the reddish-brown serves as a brightening accent, drawing visual focus around the waist. During the shoot, to recreate the character's relaxed demeanor, I needed to constantly adjust the bag's angle and my center of gravity. Particularly in the photo lifting a leg while turning sideways, set against the train track scene, using an action with a sense of extension makes the lines of the skirt hem and white over-the-knee socks clearly defined, highlighting long leg proportions while better showcasing the collision between the texture of White stockings and the plaid skirt.

In terms of camera presence, this set of photos was shot outdoors beside train tracks, a semi-open outdoor space that easily generates a narrative feel. Natural light is soft, and diffuse ambient light makes skin texture appear delicate, which is very friendly for showing details of white clothing and wigs. Added to that, the presence of railway tracks, wooden ties, metal guardrails, and yellow warning lines in the background allows the character's outfit to merge with the real-world scene, giving a ground-breaking sense of real life. Although the red-and-white warning sign hanging on the guardrail is a stray detail in frame, it adds just a bit of everyday life atmosphere, preventing the work from feeling like a hollow studio pose.

When shooting outdoor works for anime characters like this, it is recommended to choose times with ample natural light, such as late afternoon or early morning, as avoiding excessive fill light captures a more genuine everyday vibe. This shoot recorded many images with extending train tracks, a depth composition that is ideal for showing full-body lines. Additionally, pay close attention to coordinating with the photographer: whenever lifting a hand, flipping hair, or standing on one leg, keep shoulder and neck lines relaxed so that the photos look natural and the character's demeanor feels relaxed and unforced.

Overall, this look did not deliberately pursue a heavy atmosphere, but rather presented the character's Spring Letter theme in a more casual and refreshing way. Whether in recreating costume props or utilizing outdoor scenes, this work achieves a light and natural feel. Looking back at these finished photos now, they wonderfully capture the spring atmosphere and the character's unique lively spirit.
