[Saiba Momoi cosplay] Blue Archive's Honorary Yunnan Native: Stay-at-Home Gaming Routine

Choosing to shoot this home-themed series in my own bedroom and on the tatami mat was entirely inspired by the trending "honorary Yunnan native" meme. Being born and raised in Yunnan myself, I felt an immediate kinship and resonance with Momoi. So instead of choosing a lavish studio, I turned my cozy bedroom directly into a natural photo set.

I put a lot of thought into the costume details. The signature blonde twintails with red bows, combined with the black cat-ear headband sporting pink halos, make her instantly recognizable as a Game Development Department member. The jacket features a white base spliced with black, pink, and purple color-blocking, accented by a bright blue necktie inside to brighten the whole look. The skirt is a black pleated miniskirt, while the key lower-body piece is the pair of Black over-the-knee stockings with white stripes. Wearing these stockings does test leg shape, but to match the character's energetic and subtly playful charm—and to evoke that relaxed stay-at-home feel—this combination was simply spot on.

I also strove to reproduce an authentic daily setting for the shoot. The multi-tiered wooden bookcase was piled with books, figures, small plushies, and landscape art, while everyday photos were casually taped to the wall, brimming with cozy lived-in warmth. Tatami mats covered the floor next to a bed with white bedding. To boost the atmosphere, I specially arranged snack bags, a fruit plate, drink bottles, and game controllers. For example, the strawberry plushie in the photos, the yellow bag of potato chips on the table, and the half-finished drink were all real props, which I feel gave the photos that lively vibe of "just finished gaming and grabbed a snack."

I experimented with various poses. The pose in Photo 1 lying down with legs raised actually tested core strength, but unexpectedly accentuated the elongating effect of the Black over-the-knee stockings. Photo 4 is my personal favorite cover angle: sitting while holding the controller not only reveals the necktie and jacket hem, but also naturally showcases the leg lines of the absolute territory between the black miniskirt and over-the-knee stockings; combined with the cat ears and focused gaze, the overall feel was both relaxed and full of character presence. Finally, the pose lying prone on the bed playing games was packed with everyday realism, making me feel like the authentic "Saiba Momoi" caught candidly by Sensei.

The entire set utilized bright high-key lighting, which, paired with the warm tones of the room's wooden cabinets and tatami, created crisp, vivid color contrast. The greatest joy of shooting this kind of casual cosplay is not having to put on rigid airs, but truly immersing into the character's scenario. While many cosplay sets people usually see are cool, aloof, or grand, I personally relish this grounded, warm style of presentation. I believe that besides faithfully recreating a character in 2D lore, infusing a bit of one's own lived reality to resonate with fellow fans is deeply meaningful.
