[Mash cosplay] Shoot Record of the New Outfit for the Fate Series 10th Anniversary

Today, I'm sharing the specific shooting and prep details for the finished photos of this 10th anniversary new outfit for Mash cosplay. From the moment I put on this costume, I felt that while retaining the original character lore, this version's outfit design added many practical aesthetic details. The navy blue high-waisted pleated skirt combined with large black patchwork on the side is not only visually slimming, but also gives the overall styling a distinct layered sailor uniform texture. The white tie at the collar with that black-bordered diamond geometric pattern, paired with the light pink wig I specially selected and half-rim glasses, looks both student-like and crisply professional; looking in the mirror, I was very satisfied with the overall recreation level.

The makeup this time was specifically handled by Teacher Tiantian. She has extensive experience as a full-time makeup artist in Jinan and grasps uniform styling and anime cosplay makeup very accurately. The foundation was applied very translucently without that heavy mask-like feel, still showing the natural texture of the skin under direct camera flash. The red lipstick shade was chosen just right, effectively brightening the complexion while contrasting with the light-colored wig and glasses, making me look spirited. Since we shot in a relatively dark venue that day with silver wrinkled reflective mats spread on the floor, Teacher Tiantian specially highlighted the cheekbones and bridge of the nose for this unique ambient light, making facial features remain dimensional and vivid even under strong directional light sources.

The outfit was custom made by Yuwang Hanglu (Desire Voyage). Because I had to hold a side-reclining pose on this wrinkled reflective mat, high demands were placed on the fabric's drape and wrinkle resistance. When I reclined leaning on the floor, the fit between the white long-sleeved shirt and the dark blue skirt hem was fantastic, and the gray-and-white striped details around the cuffs were extremely photogenic. Under the lights, the white parts of this costume had just the right reflectivity, while the dark parts retained a lovely sense of composure. Additionally, dark brown patent-leather-style loafers paired with black kneesocks featuring white stripes gave the lower body a very stable visual balance; stepping on the reflective ground offered subtle glimmers, turning out much more textured than imagined in convention photography setups.

After handing post-production over to Teacher Baiye, the overall photos were elevated to a whole new dimension of texture. Teacher Baiye preserved that theatrical feel of the dark atmosphere, darkening the cluttered convention crowd and objects in the background so light focused solely on the character. Especially in treating the wrinkled mat supporting my hand on the floor, after raising light-and-dark contrast, the floor reflections appeared crystal clear, mutually setting off the character's quiet and calm demeanor. This style of deep shadows paired with highlighted subjects is the exact anime cosplay atmosphere I've always loved.

The venue environment on the shooting day was actually a bit noisy, but once we laid down our brought-along floor material, it instantly created a personal space of our own. To strike that side-leaning posture supporting myself on the floor, I needed to repeatedly adjust my elbow's support angle and waist exertion point. It looks effortless, but staying balanced while stretching limbs actually required constantly tightening core muscle strength. During shooting, passing fans would occasionally look back, creating a wonderful moment where everyone supported characters they loved in their own way.

As a fan of Mash, being able to record her new outfit in this way at the 10th anniversary milestone feels like a meaningful ritual. Every teacher handling makeup, attire, photography, and post-production practiced subtraction to present the purest character atmosphere. Expressing the charm of this uniform styling through metallic textures and playing light and shadow is something I personally adore—a clean and crisp presentation without needing excessive filter embellishments.
