[Vivlos cosplay] Umamusume: Pretty Derby Vivlos' Summer Sailor Suit Photo Set

Preparing the costume for this Vivlos Umamusume: Pretty Derby cosplay took a lot of dedication. To embody the character's lively and upbeat vibe, I specifically chose this stage outfit featuring sailor collar elements. Looking closely at the fabric textures, the vibrant blue portion of the top has a lovely drape; paired with the chest metal chains and golden anchor emblem, it catches strong light easily before the camera, requiring the photographer to control flash angles meticulously to avoid overexposure. The white pleated skirt features blue border striping, layered over black lace underneath to enhance dimensional depth. For this styling, I selected bright contact lenses with a purple shimmer, pairing them with blended eye makeup to closely match her expressions during close-up portrait shots.

Styling the wig was easily the most time-consuming phase of preparation. The blunt bangs had to be trimmed to rest right along the brow line, the two top hair buns needed solid anchoring, and the blue highlight extensions and slender satin ribbons had to weave seamlessly into the long flowing locks. Walking through convention crowds, long hair extensions and wide flared sleeves easily snag on surroundings, so during shooting I paid extra attention to the trailing ribbons, ensuring they flared out with dynamic, graceful float in the frame rather than clumping together.

The location was set in the venue's public corridors. The muted grey-and-white architectural geometry and reflective flooring provided an exceptional canvas, using clean modernity to make the outfit's vivid hues pop. Complemented by diffused ambient daylight and the photographer's softbox diffusers, the resulting images achieved a bright, pristine anime aesthetic. To emphasize her energetic persona, we choreographed dynamic actions across multiple perspectives: standing with one leg lifted in a mid-hop while raising an arm not only allowed the skirt hem to flare naturally but also elongated the leg contours, preventing rigid postures. When seated on the carpeted floor, I filled negative space with playful gestures like peace signs or friendly waves, making the presence feel instantly warm and approachable.

Many will notice the chunky platform shoes paired with white slouch socks—a pairing that brings harmonious visual balance while flattering calf proportions from low camera angles. Although standing in platform footwear for hours across the exhibition hall is exhausting, the flawless silhouette made every bit of stamina worth it. The yellow waist belt and cascading patterned side streamers served as brilliant focal accents, breaking up the blue-and-white palette to anchor visual interest. To keep the belt snug while seated, I readjusted its cinch between takes to guarantee clean lines at every shutter click. The entire session flowed seamlessly with wonderful unspoken communication with the photographer, nailing the desired mood on every frame.
