April 4th convention photos from the IJOY Anime & Game Festival at the China National Convention Center; this set is an Asuka Cosplay from Neon Genesis Evangelion. The convention was packed with people that day and the atmosphere was fantastic, but it also posed significant challenges to shooting. Morning preparations were quite tedious, taking a lot of effort just to put on this glossy plugsuit. The fabric is high-gloss, creating great visual effects, but it is extremely tight on the body with very little room to move, non-breathable, and easily causes sweating with slight movement. Walking around the convention floor in this outfit, I felt wrapped so tightly that even breathing was somewhat strenuous. Pulling the zipper each time required immense effort, fearing excessive force would damage the fabric. In terms of props, the red lance was specially custom-made. Although imposing in appearance, it was actually very heavy to hold; carrying and holding it up walking around the hall was a true test of arm strength. To strike cool poses, I held the lance for many shots, leaving my arms so sore they could barely be lifted after several sets. The surface of the lance was also slick, requiring extra care against slipping if hands got sweaty. The shoot location was inside the convention hall, with neatly arranged strip lights overhead combined with smoke machines on-site, making the lighting very complex. The photographer was very professional, constantly guiding my positioning to utilize overhead lights and high-contrast shadows to highlight the texture and specular highlights of the suit. With the bright lighting, the reflections on the suit were clearly visible, giving the entire image a high-tech battle suit feel. This lighting style also made outlining silhouettes easier, but simultaneously raised high demands on skin condition, so a lot of effort went into adjusting the glow and texture of the base makeup. Since the venue floor was very hard and I wore ultra-high-heeled over-the-knee boots, my ankles were extremely sore halfway through the shoot. Moreover, the heels were very thin, requiring great caution when walking on the smooth ground to avoid slipping. However, seeing the final shots made all the hardships feel worthwhile. In particular, the visual synergy of the long boots and suit had an intense impact. The overall style of the final photos is stern and cool, beautifully capturing the character's fierce aura with the lance-holding pose. While the convention was hectic, being part of this community, cosplaying together, and sharing beloved characters was truly enjoyable. Meeting many fellow fans who love the character, exchanging cosplay experiences, and discussing costume and prop details was another great joy beyond photography. The convention experience differs greatly from outdoor shoots; while crowds and cluttered backgrounds are common, the cooperation and synergy during the shoot felt wonderful. The crowd was packed, and while capturing passersby was unavoidable, it added to the unique authenticity of convention photos, preserving memories of that moment. Regarding the makeup, because the plugsuit is brightly colored, the eye makeup and lipstick were coordinated with character-fitting cool tones and red lips. Wearing the wig was somewhat stuffy, but the overall styling was very complete. Because the boots were heavy and made moving inconvenient, capturing dynamic snapshots was tough, so static poses were mostly used to showcase the character's stern and combat-ready state.
