Today I'm sharing convention photos of Columbina, the 3rd of the Fatui Harbingers from Genshin Impact. The wig was meticulously styled before the shoot—black base with magenta highlights—showing a very natural sheen under the convention's overhead lights without oily glare. The white feathers and pixel-style hair accessories on top were secured with hot glue; it took several iterations to meet high standards of character accuracy. The most complex aspect of this outfit lies in pairing the white eye mask with white ribbons. The mask features distinct square cutouts, instantly channeling her serene yet mysterious aura the moment it was put on.
The outfit primarily features glossy black material spliced with dark red fabric, with an irregular white bow tie at the neckline and a white skirt hem on the lower body forming bold color-block segmentation. What I wanted to highlight most during this shoot were the extensive white strap elements—cross-straps on the arms, wrists, and legs seamlessly blending with leg lines to create excellent visual extension, carrying subtle White tights cosplay visual accents. During the shoot, special care was taken regarding strap tension: balancing ease of movement with a lightweight sense of restraint, ensuring the white straps draped beautifully whether standing or sitting.
The lighting conditions at the convention were fantastic; venue lights hitting the wig ends and the outfit's glossy fabric produced gorgeous textures. The photographer used a large-aperture lens, so the background bokeh and atmosphere were spot-on, highlighting the main subject nicely. Regarding posing, beyond standard standing glances back, I intentionally added a seated pose holding red strings for interaction. The red string serves as both a prop and an emotional extension, adding dramatic tension to the frame. The barefoot seated pose with white straps allowed the outfit's texture to appear softer under ambient light, while the red string echoed specific lore details of the character.
Beyond faithfully recreating her appearance when cosplaying this character, I also wanted to convey that quiet serenity unique to Fatui Harbingers. Although the mask covers the eyes, body language and subtle expressions on the lower face still express her distinct traits. Whenever doing cosplay with large fabric volumes and ribbon elements, I habitually arrive early to adjust to the hall's temperature—the venue's AC combined with complex straps requires warming up beforehand to ensure comfortable camera angles.
From pattern drafting to final production, many small details were modified for this costume—such as the skirt hem tailoring, white lining length, and precise crisscross anchoring points for each strap. The eye mask cutout dimensions were also calculated repeatedly, aiming to look visually striking and recognizable while not completely blocking my vision to avoid tripping at the convention. Between studio shoots and convention photos, I personally prefer the broad environment lighting of anime conventions—the blurred silhouettes of passing attendees transform into a background full of natural rhythm, making photos look far less rigid. I'm very satisfied with how these convention photos turned out, capturing great moments across various angles.
