Taking advantage of the weekend, I went to Odaiba to shoot this combination of Asuka and Blazing Hope, bringing along that iconic red long spear, hoping to capture a unique vibe in the night scenery.
We prepared a lot before shooting. The most troublesome part was the long spear prop—being long and heavy, walking along the railings at Odaiba was quite strenuous, especially having to strike various poses while wearing black Stockings and ankle boots, which really made my ankles and knees ache. Because it was mainly a night shoot with lighting conditions much more complex than daytime, it heavily tested the photographer's lighting skills. To keep the skin texture translucent without ruining the background bokeh, while maintaining crisp outlines for the red spear and black Stockings so background lights wouldn't wash out the subject, it took a lot of time to repeatedly find angles and adjust the lights.
During the entire shoot, we moved around several spots in Odaiba, including by the bridge, on escalators, and beside railings with metallic structures. The wind was quite strong at night, blowing the twintails messy several times, forcing us to pause and tidy up the wig. To capture different body languages, I tried leaning, standing sideways, and raising one leg, and also snapped a shot with a sense of depth on the escalator. Facing the camera, I deliberately kept a stern, aloof expression to match the overall dark tone of the outfit; because the red, black, and white color scheme itself is already very eye-catching, there was no need for overly complicated facial expressions to steal the focus. In the end, shooting late into the night, though my legs grew somewhat numb in the cold wind, seeing the details of the black Stockings paired with the white stripes on the thighs in the raw shots, along with the contrast of the red spear interweaving with the green and yellow background lights, made everything feel well worth it. The overall photo yield rate of this set matched the cyber-urban night photoshoot atmosphere I originally wanted very well. Going to rest now after sharing this batch of raw shots.
