Can someone carry little Dyadia in the new season? This photoshoot is a crossover combining Dyadia cosplay from Honor of Kings with Tushan Honghong cosplay. Here to share some behind-the-scenes details and thoughts from this shoot.
Let's start with the wardrobe. The costume features an Ancient style crossed-collar, wide-sleeved design with a white base spliced with pink and dark navy blue, while the cuffs and hem are finished with gold piping and pink stripes. The waist is the visual highlight of the entire ensemble, adorned not only with crossed navy-and-orange sashes, but also accented with blue floral accessories. To match the fox spirit lore, I added golden anklets around my ankles. The pairing of white stockings and gold anklets looked exquisite on the bamboo mat, but the catch was that it was incredibly slippery, requiring me to find my balance again with every subtle pose adjustment.
In terms of set design, to harmonize with the crimson maple tones, the backdrop incorporated pink calligraphic gauze drapery and verdant green bamboo. Amidst the bold color contrast of red, green, and pink, the character's white-pink-blue palette popped out remarkably. The trickiest part of shooting this set was harmonizing the flowing fluidity of the garments with body lines. The bamboo daybed was a fantastic prop, though quite slick. For the first shot, lying on my side with my left leg straight and right leg bent, engaging my core was essential to project a relaxed poise. In the second shot, sitting upright with legs together and angled, I extended my legs forward to highlight the stockings and anklets, while shaping my hands into a graceful posture reminiscent of traditional Chinese opera orchid fingers. The voluminous sleeves easily bunched up into a messy pile on the daybed, requiring smoothing out every few frames.
As for makeup and wig styling, I wore light blue-gray contact lenses, while the golden wig featured subtle pink highlights. The plush fox ears on top needed to be clipped down very firmly, as my head moved considerably throughout the shoot. The focus of the makeup lay in blending the eye makeup to capture a fox's clever, lively charm, paired with a full, gradient bitten-lip look. As this was an experimental crossover style, I apologize for any OOC elements if anything diverges from your personal interpretation.
From set construction to lighting, I communicated extensively with the photographer. To ensure the light balanced the translucency of the pink gauze while preserving shadow details in the red maples, we added plenty of diffusion fabric over the light fixtures. I am extremely satisfied with the overall outcome—it preserves classical aesthetic beauty while impeccably showcasing garment details and personal expressive tension. Styling the wig and steaming the outfit took the better part of a day, especially getting the wide sleeve folds crisp and smooth, which is vital for them to look photogenic.
The design of this outfit is truly delicate and ingenious; though quite intricate to wear, seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile.
