This White studio cosplay duo set of Love Live! Aqours' Kurosawa Dia and Kurosawa Ruby is finally wrapped, and today I'm sharing the behind-the-scenes details and takeaways from our finished shoot.

We chose this performance outfit that fuses military tailoring with punk accents, anchored by a black base enriched with bold crimson contrasts and gold piping. For my Kurosawa Dia cosplay, the wig featured long black wavy locks with red highlights, topped with a black-and-white military peaked cap adorned with feathers and a red bow. Makeup-wise, both of us accented our eye contours with star decals to heighten that 2D stage makeup presence. Because this was a white cyclorama shoot, the fidelity of garment textures and craftsmanship was paramount. The velvet finish of my jacket, the golden epaulet fringe along the collar, and the metallic chains paired with leather belts around the waist stood out with crisp texture under the bright studio strobes. Beneath was a white lace-up crop top paired with red-trimmed black shorts and an asymmetrical overskirt drape for a clean silhouette. My legs were styled with fishnet Stockings and black thigh rings, finished with chunky black platform-heeled boots to dramatically elongate leg lines.

My partner @NisihuShuiguai cosplayed Kurosawa Ruby with vibrant red hair topped by a white-crowned, black-brimmed military cap. Her top was a short-sleeved black uniform with red stripes and double-breasted gold buttons, worn over a red-and-black plaid pleated skirt trimmed with black lace ruffles and an asymmetrical trailing bustle at the back. Her overall aesthetic channeled sweet-punk flair, creating an intense chromatic punch against the minimalist white studio cyclorama. Shared design motifs between us included black-and-white striped arm warmers, black fingerless gloves, and matching chokers.

During the session, we brainstormed numerous poses with photographer @GovczXiaofashiXiYi. The composition in Photo 4 was my personal favorite: perched atop a white studio cube with one foot planted on the platform and the other leg dangling naturally, which perfectly framed the cut of the black shorts and the texture of the fishnet Stockings while a relaxed shoulder lean evoked Dia's poised, commanding demeanor. Ruby sat nearby with knees neatly tucked, establishing a charming contrast in height and kinetic balance. The virtue of a white studio is the total absence of visual clutter, channeling complete focus onto fabric textures and body lines. Smoothing out hems and micro-adjusting hat tilts took considerable patience—especially spreading Ruby's expansive lace-and-plaid train to capture its layered depth.

This duo white studio session was a fantastic experience; the collision of black, white, and red charged every frame with visual tension, and refining each pose helped us discover seamless synergy before the camera.
