Putting on this school uniform and khaki coat for Makise Kurisu cosplay and standing in front of the arranged lab table, this scene instantly pulls one back to the Radio Kaikan in Akihabara. This time features previews and behind-the-scenes aside from the official photos. Before getting the final retouched images, I'm sharing some snapshots from the shooting process, and the vibe feels quite right to me. Regarding the coordination of this outfit, the red tie and the trimmed lines on the school uniform are the soul. Combined with the brown coat and her signature red hair, the accuracy is very much on point for this Red-haired character.

During the shoot, I focused on a sense of everyday life rather than intentionally striking specific poses for this Casual cosplay look. For instance, the moment of lowering my eyelids while sitting on a black leather chair, or touching the nixie tube clock that keeps glowing in the background. The model of that clock was carefully selected; its orange-red glow in the dim environment at the shoot was highly enchanting, acting as a crucial prop to build up the laboratory's hazy, sci-fi atmosphere.

The behind-the-scenes snippets during the process were actually even more fun. Like the scenes shown in the collage, including the microwave, the green bananas on the table, and some snapshots of zoning out and fixing my hair—these casual, inadvertent movements are actually the easiest way to catch the character's relaxed feel. Because the character Makise Kurisu from Steins;Gate is not only a genius girl but also has a casual, girl-next-door side. In communication with the photographer, we deliberately avoided an overly commercialized heavily-retouched feel, preserving the light and shadow texture of the original images. The intertwined blue tones and warm light in the frame, along with the light spots filtering through the blinds, make the entire scene look retro and three-dimensional. Although the clothing is a classic style, under such light and shadow, the texture of the fabric and the strands of hair can be beautifully presented. This low-saturation yet high-contrast color grading perfectly fits the tech-melancholy atmosphere unique to this work. Sharing these previews is, on one hand, a record of my hard work on this project, and on the other hand, a desire to present a visual effect that isn't superficial but carries more narrative tension through this piece of Anime-style photography.
