[Zai Ji cosplay] NARAKA: BLADEPOINT: Capturing a Dark Elf at the Fan Content Festival

After finishing this Zai Ji cosplay shoot for the Fan Content Festival, I decided to organize my thoughts on this styling during breaks from sorting photos. In NARAKA: BLADEPOINT's character lore, Zai Ji's crisp sharpness and aura have always drawn me, so I decided to embody that temperament in front of convention camera lenses.

Let's start with hair and makeup details. To recreate that non-human exotic feel, I deepened shading around the eyes while retaining her signature tear mole mark on the lower eyelid. Combined with long straight silver-white hair and highly recognizable elf ears along the ear contour, the cool, aloof baseline was established immediately. The wig was custom-made with excellent drape, reflecting a soft silver shine under window light at the convention without looking stiff.

Regarding costume design, the concept of asymmetry runs throughout. The upper half features a black-and-gold bustier-style design that looks luxurious without feeling overly cluttered. Semi-sheer black mesh sleeves on the arms paired with white pointed accents serve as the true highlight of this outfit. The skirt on the lower half uses an asymmetrical cut bursting with broken texture, which, combined with fine black over-the-knee stockings and spiked strap decorations, fits the character's combat nature while delivering sufficient Anime-style photography visual punch. Black semi-sheer long stockings paired with black high-heeled sandals featuring tiny ankle bows effectively elongated lower body proportions, turning out exceptionally well in standing shots.

Compared to the outfit, that silver crystal staff prop turned out to be the biggest challenge of this shoot. Though appearing lightweight, the material was solid; holding it for a long time made my wrist truly sore. Trying to execute a nonchalant yet lethal feel meant practically fighting gravity and arm stability for every single frame. Fortunately, the photographer excelled at candid captures, coordinating well with sitting and standing movement lines on site. We avoided harsh, cluttered ceiling lights at the convention venue as much as possible, using side-backlight to faithfully restore the subtle shimmering sheen on the costume.

When I shoot, beyond character lore accuracy, I hope to convey the character's inner pride. Standing in the hall holding this weapon, paired with the cool ambient setting of concrete pillars and floor-to-ceiling windows, created a deeply rich atmosphere. These images are not merely a simple visual imitation, but a genuine interpretation of her spirit. Meeting fellow fans and connecting during these convention photos moments at the Fan Content Festival was truly a fantastic experience.
