The core concept of shooting this Hiyuki set was to highly refine the winter scenes from the game Wuthering Waves and bring them into the studio. The ground was laid with snow cotton and wooden platforms to simulate a snowy courtyard, while being dotted with some pink flower branches to create a warm and cool contrast, preventing the cool white-toned snow scenery from looking too monotonous.
In terms of costume, this white modified cross-collar top features a drop-shoulder design, with high recreation accuracy in the collar and cuffs. The red and blue patchwork fabric at the hem has distinct layers, incorporating grey-blue color blocks and white tassels into the primary red tone, increasing the lower body's visual center of gravity. The black leather straps at the waist, paired with metal fasteners, give the soft fabric a crisp structural feel and ensure the costume doesn't slip out of place when executing movements.
The long white wig worn this time has excellent smoothness, and the small hair bun and hair accessories on top maintained their great styling throughout the shoot. For the eye makeup, to echo Hiyuki's eye color, I wore light red colored contacts, choosing a pinkish-orange eyeshadow paired with a light-colored eyeliner to sketch the contours. This color palette doesn't look too heavy under the studio's main white light and background blue light, but instead makes the expression look cooler and more ethereal.
The hilt of the tachi prop is wrapped with a white grip tape, providing great tactile feedback when held. During the shoot, we tried several different compositions, such as a horizontal sword pose while sitting on a wooden chair, and a perspective lying sideways on the snow platform. Combined with the physical Japanese-style wooden lattices and the large full moon backdrop behind, plus the studio's drifting snow special effects, the temperament of a cool swordsman in the snow was beautifully expressed.
As for the lighting, cool white soft light was mainly adopted. The post-processing did not excessively adjust the colors, preserving the clean contrast of the primary colors under the snow landscape. The rhythm of the entire shoot was exceptionally well-coordinated, everyone was highly focused, and the final overall visual vibe presented a restrained and delicate texture. This Ancient style cosplay attempt turned out beautifully, and I hope you enjoy this session of Anime-style photography.
