The vermilion torii gate and blue-gray stone steps of Gaogai Mountain, along with the surrounding natural vegetation, provided a highly fitting scene setup for this Reimu Hakurei Cosplay shoot. Regarding the costume, this modified red-and-white shrine maiden outfit features a lot of detail processing. The midriff-baring design of the top not only visually raises the waistline but also makes it easier to perform more physical poses during the shoot. The cuffs and skirt hem are decorated with white ruffles and red bows, along with some gold ribbon details, giving the overall look a distinct sense of layering. The oversized red bow hair accessory on the head is the character's signature element, which, paired with the tassel hairpins on both sides, recreates the character beautifully. There was also plenty of hair volume added, allowing for a very natural flowing effect when the breeze blew through. For props, a folding fan and a long string of pink petal-styled tassel decorations were chosen. This combination worked exceptionally well for action shots. Especially when waving the pink tassels, it captured the beautiful arc formed by the tassels in the air, blending movement and stillness to create a visual effect of the shrine maiden unleashing spiritual power to banish yokai. During the shoot, we tried various perspectives, including eye-level shots standing on the steps to create a symmetrical composition using the torii gate, as well as a slightly high-angle shot looking down while sitting on the steps, using the folding fan to convey a subtle sense of majesty. To fill the images with tension, we specifically captured the exact moment when the sleeves and tassels were simultaneously lifted by the wind. Although the environment of Gaogai Mountain doesn't completely replicate a shrine, its color palette of the red torii gate, green lawn, and blue-gray paving stones shares an uncanny resemblance to the atmosphere of the Touhou Project worldview. The contrast between light and shadow created by the sunlight projecting onto the red wooden pillars also added a touch of serenity to the entire set of works. The thick-soled geta sandals, paired with white slouch socks and red bows at the ankles, balanced out the heaviness of traditional attire. The wind was indeed quite strong during the shoot. While it increased the difficulty, it perfectly enabled the natural flow of the hair, skirt, and tassels, and the captured motion blur turned out to be very impactful. The coordination between the support crew and the photographer was also crucial; adjusting the aperture and depth of field allowed the background to blur moderately, highlighting the clarity of the main subject. The results of this shoot basically achieved the expected goals. Whether it was the presentation of costume details or the capture of the character's temperament, a suitable way of expression was found through continuous adjustments.
