This blue-and-white look took about half a month from initial preparation to final execution. The wig was trimmed three separate times to achieve this airy texture without obstructing my eyes. The hood required a crisp, structured silver exterior and a deep blue lining, balanced so it would drape naturally when sitting on a chair. Translucent blue gauze fabric was layered over a white base top accented with star-shaped decorations at the chest, while white and silver straps were wrapped around the arms and bodice to enhance visual dimension.
For the makeup, purple contact lenses were paired with intensified reddish blending across the upper and lower eyelids, soft pink blush, and a vibrant glossy red lip. The convention lighting was tricky with overhead spotlights prone to casting harsh facial shadows, so the photographer used reflectors for soft facial fill light to keep skin tones smooth and even. The lettering on the backdrop wall was kept in focus to retain that authentic on-site convention feel rather than blowing it out with wide-aperture blur.
For props, the blue butterfly in my hand served as the key focal point. Holding the butterfly called for floating finger control rather than clutching it tightly, which would have made the pose look stiff. While posing, I experimented with different seated postures—leaning against the chair back or crossing my legs while leaning slightly forward. This not only supported the garment's tailoring, but also visually elongated leg lines to showcase the full design. Because the skirt is fairly short, sitting down required carefully arranging the fabric folds to prevent wardrobe malfunctions while ensuring the wrapped straps stayed firmly anchored through every pose shift.
Meeting so many fellow fans during the autograph session was amazing, with everyone mainly asking whether the outfit felt hot on set. In truth, the convention AC was quite strong, but the layers of the wig, hood, and stacked accessories naturally made the perceived temperature warmer than regular clothes. Some asked if the Butterfly prop was handmade; it was actually handpicked specifically to echo the overarching color palette. Coming to Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo and connecting with so many fans face-to-face—hearing their passion and interpretations of the character—is something you simply cannot experience through a screen. Every convention or location shoot, from fixing collars and touching up makeup to steadying props at a moment's notice, is far more than just wearing a costume for photos; it is a true test of patience and attention to detail.
