When the Golden Dust styling from Infinity Nikki was first revealed in the game, I was deeply attracted by its sacred yet gorgeous design, so I immediately decided to bring this outfit into reality. This is not just a simple set of clothes, but a physical challenge to the game's art. From material selection to production, it took a long time. Today, this set of photos can finally meet everyone, and I want to share some stories behind this shooting.
Let's talk about the makeup first. To match the saint style setting, the base makeup pursues clarity and a glossy feel. The eye makeup uses a large area of golden-brown eyeshadow overlaid with fine shimmering sequins. Combined with the character's golden crown and radial halo, if the eye makeup is too heavy, it will look fierce, and if it's too light, it won't hold down the overall aura. Therefore, the eyeliner was lengthened and slightly upturned to add a bit of noble and aloof temperament. The lip makeup uses a warm red with orange tones, consistent with the overall warm-toned light and shadow environment. A lot of thought was also put into the trimming and styling of the wig; paired with the long veil, the hair strands need to be combed very smoothly to reflect that ethereal feeling.
Next are the clothing and props. The main body of the dress is an off-white long skirt, covered with mesh sequins and lace embroidery on the surface, with intricate decorations intertwined in red, green, and gold at the neckline and chest. To make the character look slender, the bubble sleeve design of the sleeves is made very three-dimensional. Wearing dark green gloves makes it a bit slippery when operating props and adjusting clothes, but it also adds a retro elegance to the whole. The golden birdcage held in hand is a very special accessory, with a strong texture under the light. The biggest challenge is actually the huge halo headpiece. It is composed of many golden sharp lines, is not light in weight, and because the surface is a reflective material, adjusting the angle slightly turns it into a dazzling highlight or even overexposed in the lens. During rehearsal, many hairpins and reinforcement ropes were used to prevent it from slipping.
The light and shadow design of the shooting location is a major focus this time. To create the sacred and dreamy atmosphere in the photos, we used a high-power warm-color spotlight directly behind the character for backlight. The light penetrated the thin gauze, pearl chains, and halo, forming a floodlight effect with great visual impact. But the price of backlight is that the face easily becomes pitch black. To balance this, I arranged double-layer softboxes in the front and placed a white reflector at the chin level. Although adjusting the lighting ratio took a lot of time, seeing the light pierce through the semi-transparent veil to form speckled spots of light made everything feel worth it.
Every attempt at such complex clothing and prop-heavy styling is a dual test of physical strength and patience. In this gorgeous cosplay, I did not choose the traditional sexy route that easily attracts attention, but instead showcased the character's unique charm through complex clothing structures, sacred light and shadow, and dignified body language. From clothing cutting to prop aging treatment, every link requires a high degree of focus. I hope the final presented picture allows everyone who likes Nikki to feel the delicacy and depth of this setting.
