Today, I shot an Office Lady uniform-themed photo set in the staircase. Choosing the staircase as the background was mainly due to the clean contrast between the wooden steps and the white walls. This ambient lighting is very bright and soft, making it great for presenting that crisp yet slightly lazy workplace commuting vibe. To match today's theme, I specially prepared a grey short-sleeve suit set, layered with a simple white bandeau inside. The fabric of the grey suit has a subtle textured feel, and the shoulder pad design makes the overall silhouette look more upright and tall.
The lower half is paired with a short skirt in the same color scheme, with black stockings and red-bottom high heels serving as the absolute focal point of this Black stockings photography styling. The black stockings were chosen with a slightly sheer thickness, which can flatter the leg lines without looking dull. The hint of red exposed by the red-bottom high heels when stepping on the steps serves as a wonderful embellishment within the dark color tones. Additionally, to add a bit of intellectual or gentle temperament, I dug out a pair of Metal frame glasses to wear. Holding a cup of iced drink as a prop was mainly to alleviate the awkwardness of not knowing where to put my hands, making the posture look more natural.
The difficulty during the shooting process lay in the relatively narrow space of the staircase. To capture the visual effect of long legs in this Staircase photography session, we experimented with several different angles. The first shot uses a slightly downward-looking perspective; I sat on the steps with my legs crossed and hand supporting the glasses frame, a pose that requires core tightening to sit steadily. The second shot is a low-angle upward shot, where I extended my legs downward, utilizing the lens's perspective distortion to elongate the proportion of the entire body. This perspective showcases the legs best. The third shot is a pure overhead close-up, mainly to display facial expressions and the details of the glasses. Wearing high heels on the steps actually tests one's sense of balance, and a slight lack of attention can easily lead to a misstep, so every pose adjustment required carefully finding the center of gravity.
The posture for holding the iced drink also took a long time to adjust. Eventually, I found that supporting the bottom of the cup with one hand and slightly extending the arm outward makes the frame look more relaxed. Today's makeup also matched the Office Lady uniform style, avoiding heavy eye makeup while focusing on a clean, translucent base makeup and bean-paste-colored lipstick, giving a healthier glow. Overall, this set of photos breaks away from the usual sweet-girl style; the grey suit combined with black stockings and glasses visually presents a mature and capable texture. This commuter-style outfit actually carries a special tension before the lens, presenting a different kind of intellectual Atmospheric portrait vibe. This shooting attempt made me realize that even simple clothing, through the coordination of scenes and light-and-shadow, can capture wonderful textures.
