This shoot features Tsukatsuki Rio from Blue Archive, focusing on a weekday Office Lady uniform aesthetic. When finalizing this outfit, my biggest worry was what the post-production team warned: 'There is too much black surface area, which absorbs light heavily and makes cutting out the background a nightmare.' That was indeed true. An all-black suit paired with black stockings, a black tactical thigh bag, and long straight black hair could easily blend into an unreadable dark mass in a white studio. We relied heavily on the red-soled high heels and the orange-red halo prop above my head to create visual contrast.
Starting with the outfit, the white turtleneck sweater is the soul of this ensemble, balancing the heaviness of the black. The black blazer has sharp tailoring, but because it is a matte fabric, slightly off angles would cause it to appear completely pitch black, requiring constant fill light. The ID badge hanging at my chest and the gray clipboard in my hand added an authentic touch of a busy corporate professional. The strapped tactical thigh bag on my leg was notoriously difficult to keep in place, slipping down every couple of steps until we secured it firmly with safety pins. We invested considerable effort into posing. Since the black stockings and legs were key focal points, most shots relied on single-leg weight-bearing poses or seated setups. Leaning back on the white cylindrical pedestal while stretching the legs forward—as seen in photo 10—not only highlighted the texture of the black stockings under the lights, but also elongated the visual lines. Lowering the camera angle to intentionally display the red soles of the heels provided a striking detail against the pure white backdrop. The shots crouching on the black box required tightening my entire core to maintain balance. The halo beside my head was a custom rigid prop that risked falling off during dynamic motion, which kept our range of movement relatively controlled. Among the set, my personal favorite is that final reclining side-glance pose, seamlessly blending tactical accents with polished competence. This Office Lady styling is genuinely hardcore and serves as a true test of even studio lighting. Although hunting for proper highlights took extensive trial and error, the final results did justice to that sea of black. This session served as valuable experience gained for White studio photography.
