[Reze cosplay] Actually, I Showed Up for Our Date That Day, Denji-kun

"Actually, I showed up for our date that day, Denji-kun." Ever since deciding on the theme for this shoot, this sentence has been looping in my mind. To capture the slice-of-life side of the character, I specially chose an old alley filled with a sense of storytelling as the location. The mottled walls, rusted pipes, and green-painted window frames here all carry a heavy flavor of daily life.

In designing the look, I strove to recreate this highly classic outfit. The top is a white shirt with gentle puff sleeves, tied with a thin black ribbon bowtie at the collar, and layered on the outside with a black sleeveless slim-fit pinafore dress that perfectly shapes the silhouette. For the lower body, I selected form-fitting black over-the-knee socks and black glossy platform loafers, whose surface reflects a subtle glimmer under the streetlights. The entire color palette is dominated by black and white. To echo the character's hair color, I wore a short reddish-brown wig and clipped a small white flower accessory by my left ear, adding a touch of innocence and cuteness to the overall cool outfit.

I feel the soul of this photoset, besides the styling, lies in the atmospheric presentation of the props. A bouquet of fresh white chamomiles and small blossoms looks exceptionally serene and restrained under the late-night black-and-grey tones. Especially when the lit-up blue screen of the phone appears together with the white bouquet, a strong visual contrast between technology and nature, the coldness of the urban night, and the vividness of the character is instantly generated in this night alley.

The shooting process was highly immersive, and I experimented with various body languages to express my inner state. There are frames of quietly cradling the bouquet while looking into the distance, turning slightly around to glance back, and shadows cut by the lights while walking freely in the night alley. Those few photos taken from a low-angle upward perspective showcase a powerful contrast between the towering buildings and the minuscule figure, making it feel as if in the entire tranquil night, she is the only one existing in this compact space for this atmospheric portrait.

I place high value on the delivery of the gaze in this work, because the character herself possesses a sleek combat stance, yet deep down inside she holds her own softness and anticipation. Putting on these clothes and walking into the night, it feels as if I can truly hear the wind blowing through the alleyway. I hope that through this set of photos, those who love this character can feel that emotion exploding in silence, rather than just seeing a simple heavily retouched beauty photo. Combining the character's traits with the decadent vibe of the scene is exactly the texture we wanted to present most in this shoot.
