For this Komeiji Satori cosplay Dreamy photo set shoot, the core concept was to faithfully capture the serene, translucent, and subtly mysterious temperament found in Touhou Project. To complement the character lore, we specially chose a vast Hydrangea sea as the location, where blue-purple flower clusters created a delicate color harmony with the character's long pink hair and blue tulle dress.
In preparing the outfit, I made several detailed adjustments to the blue-and-white dress. The red ribbon bow on the chest provides a striking visual impact—resembling an eye, which is a core motif in the character's design—so I carefully adjusted its size and placement to ensure it stands out in the frame. The lace and sheer tulle on the skirt hem offer gorgeous texture; although walking through the bushes was a bit tedious to brush off during shooting, the visual effect when the breeze gently lifted the skirt was truly breathtaking.
For hair and makeup, to match the overall Touhou Project aesthetic, I styled a pink wig with intricate care, fine-tuning the side locks and head ornaments to evoke that ethereal, unreal fairy-like presence.
Special thanks to photographer Chacha TEA7125 for the delicate framing. We collaborated for a long time; to achieve the best composition, most photos utilized blurred foreground flowers as framing elements, using nearby wooden trellises to create depth and enhance visual layers. The lighting that day was soft, and the photographer employed a subtle translucent backlit technique, ensuring a soft-focus glow on the face while making the petals and tulle edges appear exceptionally light and airy.
In terms of facial expression, since Komeiji Satori is a mind-reading Satori youkai, I conveyed a cooler, restrained, and introverted emotion through my gaze. Rather than smiling deliberately, I maintained a distant, dreamy look woven with cool composure and subtle melancholy for this Atmospheric portrait.
For post-processing, I chose cool-toned blue-purple color grading while preserving the warm brown hues of the wooden frames, creating a warm-and-cool contrast that prevents the image from looking flat. I avoided excessive liquify or skin smoothing, aiming to preserve the authentic textures of the fabric and flowers while making subtle micro-adjustments to light and shadow. Although wading through flower bushes for a long time to find the right camera angle was physically tiring, seeing the serene, fairy-tale illustration-like outcome in the final photos made all the effort feel completely worthwhile. This photoshoot was deeply fulfilling, serving as a complete and satisfying milestone for portraying this character and creating Touhou Project themed work.
