Today's photoshoot theme combines a "cyber ghost girl" with a researcher, located at Midori-ga-oka. These spaces where glass curtain walls and concrete staircases interweave perfectly complement Priestess's cool, neutral, and slightly detached temperament.
The outfit consists of a white jacket with black trim and a black skirt, paired with a black tactical pouch at the waist, black stockings, and metal-buckled high heels on the legs, creating a clean and sharp look visually. For props, the glasses and data folder are indispensable, soulful accessories; from daily observations and records to brief moments of leaning back to rest, these small props help beautifully shape a calm, intellectual image throughout the entire scene.
The shoot utilized a Sony A7R5 paired with a Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 G2. The afternoon light that day was very harsh and sharp, which was exactly the effect I wanted. The sunlight pierced through the glass curtain walls and hit the white jacket, forming beautiful rim lighting. Combined with occasional lens flare and reflections, it gave the frame a transparent, breathable feel. The second-floor terrace and staircase corners at Midori-ga-oka are filled with tropical plants, injecting life into the clean lines of the modern architecture. During Midori-ga-oka photography, I extensively utilized the depth of the steps and the glass reflections to expand the frame. In particular, the sitting and squatting compositions beautifully blended the light, shadow, vegetation, and the character's state, resulting in a highly transparent overall texture.
For the "cyber ghost girl" and the character Priestess herself, icy technology and delicate emotions actually coexist. In these photos, I preferred to restrain my expressions, using demeanor and subtle movements to convey a state of returning to tranquility after all the hustle and bustle. This entire cosplay photoshoot was shot almost exclusively in natural light. The environmental light and shadow shifted intensely, making the choice of framing a true test of lighting selection—leaving large areas of negative space where direct sunlight hits while using shadowed sections to focus the gaze, keeping the image filled with contrast without looking cluttered.
To reproduce Priestess's look, the pairing of the wig and headband needed to closely fit the crown of the head, maintaining a naturally draping, medium-long hair feel. The white jacket is a custom-made piece, and the black patchwork lines on the collar and cuffs offer a pretty good fidelity, along with the nameplate on the chest—details that compose the character's outward image. There were several snapshot moments during the shoot, such as holding the glasses or tilting my head slightly, which made the overall look appear natural and relaxed.
The unique geographical structure of Midori-ga-oka provided more possibilities for the shoot. From certain angles, the sunlight filtered through palm leaves to cast dappled light and shadow, and the reflections on the glossy ground also enriched the layering of the image. Although the weather was quite hot and shooting under direct sunlight on a bright day was no easy task, seeing the texture formed by cool pale skin and intense sunshine in the final photos made it feel entirely worth it. This blend of a futuristic lab's cool tone and the outdoor plants' vitality perfectly aligns with my understanding of the character.
Regarding the use of props, sitting in a corner organizing data or standing before the reflective glass gazing into the distance brought a sense of narrative storytelling to the frame. This set of photos mainly wants to express the character's brief pause during task intervals, requiring no strong aggressiveness or exaggerated movements—only quiet breathing and relaxed body language. The heavy backlighting in the final close-up shots captured the hair strands and facial contours, softening the overall neutral temperament, which counted as an unexpected little surprise. Maintaining the calm and composure a researcher should have served as the main thread of this shoot.
