[Theresa Cosplay] Arknights' Demon King Condolence: Silent Grief Against the White Wall

After wrapping up this shoot for Theresa's EPOQUE Series - "Condolence" Civilight Eterna cosplay, I flipped through the raw photos on my camera over and over again. The cold, restrained, and reverent atmosphere of grief captured in these images almost completely met the vision I had when putting together this set.

When thinking about Theresa, her gentle and compassionate nature in the story easily guides you into a state of quiet reflection during a shoot. The black long dress I chose for this condolence look is made of premium fabric with a cut leaning toward a blend of Gothic Lolita and dark romance—especially with the cinched waist and voluminous skirt, which immediately invoked the character's presence once put on. The sparse white flowers dotting the dress are not bright or flashy, but carry a low-key elegance that perfectly reflects the solemn grief appropriate for the Demon King in this setting.

I had the wig custom-dyed to a light purple with pinkish tones to match my makeup. When the long hair draped down, it blended seamlessly with the cool white base makeup. The white exterior wall of the building served as a fantastic background; the European-style pillars added a classical beauty, while the arched window openings and the faint spires visible above made the whole scene resemble a quiet church or castle.

It was actually a foggy day during the shoot, and the mist in the air created a hazy, ethereal blur. This diffused daylight from overcast skies acted as the ultimate softbox, coating the entire frame in a soft pink-purple tint. I absolutely adore colors that come with their own emotional weight; it required no forced post-processing, as the photos naturally carried a narrative feel. For composition, the photographer used a wide-angle lens to accentuate the spatial perspective. In particular, for the composition in picture two where I stood beside the pillar, the lines of the white pillar guided the eye upward, creating a stark contrast between the towering architecture and human smallness, while the ample negative space beautifully highlighted the character's solitude and resilience.

The shooting process was not as effortless as the final photos look. This black dress features a complex structure with many skirt layers; standing still was manageable, but adjusting poses or turning around made the heavy skirt quite a burden. To capture the moment when the skirt draped naturally and the wind caught my hair, we tried repeatedly.

Because the dress was extremely dark while the background was pure white, this high contrast demanded a lot from the lighting setup. We needed to ensure the white building was not overexposed while clearly preserving the folds and layered textures of the black gown—testing both the camera's dynamic range and the photographer's lighting control. Fortunately, the final shots turned out thoroughly satisfying in both clarity and lighting depth.

Cosplaying Theresa has always held a special meaning for me. Her blend of gentleness and firm resolve, along with her composure while carrying a heavy destiny, moved me deeply during the process of trying to understand and portray her.

Setting aside the heavy background of the lore, purely from the perspective of this Cosplay photography experience, the styling choices and location were a great fit for the Gothic style and elegance I wanted to express. The clash of black and white, the use of cool tones, and the peaceful demeanor in looking slightly down or gazing straight ahead formed the core emotion of this photo set.

Well, this counts as one of my recent shoots that I am extremely satisfied with! Looking at the raw photos brings back the genuine feeling of standing in the mist in front of the white wall wearing this long gown.
